Perfect, I've been using Smack Attack in a similar manner for a while now. You've presented how this might be an optional solution for getting a wet snare to bloom nicely to enhance a room effect. Thanks, Bobby.

...For 5 years, Smack Attack, Softube-Transient Shaper and Tape have been indispensable in my drum tracks 🥰🥰🥰

Appreciate this video. Been listening to Load/Reload drum sound. The drum hits are pretty natural sounding but somehow they survive and cut right through some loud, thick guitars!Wondering if some kind of transient shaping effect was used?

In fact, I have been using Transient enhancers on most of my "central" drum tracks, such as Kicks, and Snares/Claps; and for EDM, maybe the Open Hat's. I'm pretty sure I have Smack Attack, but I have yet to try it, as I've been mostly using the DS-10 from XLN and it's "simple" interface. It sure brings my drums to life, and helps me "shape" the sounds how I see they fit in the mix; so I am pretty much using it to aid in "designing" my Drum kits to assist with sound selection & referencing comparisons; essentially trying to get that "perfect" Kick or Snare.

I really love ds10. Almost no cpu usage and perfect result on drum bus or individual elect a

We used to get a great sounding kit on tape and then work with that sound. A crappy sounding kit will suffice today since the end result is nothing like what you started with. 😃

Rad trick dude! I love using transient shapers for my drums but I haven’t tried this yet. Usually I’m using them to tighten up kicks or soften snare attack a bit.

What do you do when the song changes to double tempo in the middle of the song, and the huge snare starts to sound way too big?
@RaytownProductions Жыл бұрын
Automation! You can also duplicate the snare track and make that have the "big snare" processing. Delete the audio everywhere it needs to be more focused. Then you have complete control over that big sound. 🤘

@@RaytownProductions Thank you. Why didn't i think of that? :D Thanks for the good video :)

Because of where I live I can’t record drums here. What I do is painstakingly come up with a drum beat and paste hits on the grid. One of the things I lack is having room mics. Do you have any videos on creating your own drums with pasting hits on a grid and making them sound GREAT?
@RaytownProductions Жыл бұрын
I can add this to my list of videos to make! I don't think I have a video on this, but it's something that I do occasionally.

Why not just replace the original snare altogether, if you're just going to drown it out with a sample?

You just reminded me how much i hate 1176s and how important transient shapers are.
