Another controller you should look out for is an ultra-rare twin-stick controller I've seen but not been able to find much info on. It's called Alpha 64 and was made by Nyko. Just seems bizarre and the only games I know that even possibly could use both sticks are Goldeneye and Perfect Dark.
@CommodoreFan64
@CommodoreFan64 7 жыл бұрын
I have one I found at a flea market for $1, but the shoulder buttons need fixing, and yeah it's weird as you can flip a small switch on the back to use either the left or right analog stick(can't use both at the same time, and some games freak out when you flip the switch in mid game play), and it's the design Nintendo should have done with as thumb sticks are built like tanks with a metal shaft, and are tighter then even new official N64 controllers. Also it was made by Nyko. here is a page that has a review on the controller www.gamerevolution.com/review/alpha64

I like this controller too. The left side is a tad large, but I'm 6'5" tall with meaty hands. I welcome the extra size. In games like Duke Nukem the analog stick moved you, and the D-pad changed weapons. With a stock controller it was a pain moving your hand back and forth. So smooth with this controller.

2:56 There was a variation of that pad, the Makopad, which you can see in the selection from the UK's Official Nintendo Magazine (0:17, top left). I always wondered what that would be like to use, but if the Super Pad 64 is uncomfortable, then chances are the Makopad would be the same. Which is a shame, as it was one of the more intriguing controllers to look at when I was a kid. On another note, the Arcade Shark looks awesome. Never had any fighters other than Smash Bros on my N64, but I would've tried to get it for the novelty alone. Having a D-pad along with a stick reminds me of the Hitbox Cross-Up.

I love this video! I actually own the Super Rare N64 Power Glove, The Boomerang Controller, The Hori Pad Mini, and quite a few of the beginning aftermarket controllers. Although I do not have a wireless N64 Controller, and that is something I would just adore and Love to get my hands on for my collection!!! Good video man!

I had a gamecube style controller I bought at a GameStop back when the N64 was still being sold there. I had found 2 of them and I loved the controllers, except that they seemed to break easily. They felt great to use and worked fine after we replaced them.

When I saw the V3 it brings me back memories! I still have it! I used it quite a lot for Star Wars Episode 1 Racer! It was so damn better to play easily with it than the official controller!

It feels so good to play it, with all the speed! I remember that when I played this at one of my brother's house, he let me play it with the game project on all his wall with the lights out. It's so immersive!

Matijony ...I have SWE1R and a V3 (though the cable to the pedals broke (that plastic stabiliser pin snapped) so I have to use the face buttons on the wheel) but I don't think I ever tried combining the two (WipEout 64 was kinda fun with the V3 though), I gotta remember to try that sometime.

Redhotsmasher I have all the V3 set, not just the wheel, so it looks really like if I was in a real car! And it all still working even after more than 10 years!

I too have had the Interact brand Superpad 64 featured at the three minute mark. As a matter of fact I've owned two separate units of it. The first one I used regularly until the top of the thumbstick broke off. I later managed to find another one at a local Gamestop and bought it as a replacement. It too eventually had the top of it's thumbstick break off, go figure! The top of the thumbstick breaking off seems to be a recurring problem, possibly a design flaw.

I have that glove. Found it in a store and promptly looked it up; there was almost no information online. Brought it home, hooked it up, and it was a NIGHTMARE, just an absolute nightmare. It seems specifically designed to cause wrist strain. Rotating your hand and wrist around moves the analog stick, and you have to move it a LOT to push the stick all the way. It actually functions fine, it's just a nightmare to actually use.

As a child I remember having the Super Pad 64, didn't remember it's name, the black one with the weird angle as you say, but as a child I LOVED that controller, ESPECIALLY more than the three grip controller that came with the console at the time, would be interesting to see if I still loved it as an adult!!!

Ever hear of the Championship Joystick for the SNES? Incredibly rare and obscure, but absolutely fantastic. It's basically a giant plastic box with actual Happ arcade buttons and a Joystick, and it's phenomenal for Turtles in Time, Street Fighter, and Smash TV.
