You forgot to mention one thing. Sometimes, during career free roam, some patrolling cop cars end up going kamikaze, driving at top speed and even hitting traffic and other cop cars without even having their lights and sirens on. They may also total their car in the process. They won’t turn on you, either. They don’t even care if you are speeding as well. However, they sometimes hit you by mistake, which DOES start a pursuit as if they are on the receiving end of a hit and run, even though they caused the collision.
@pedrosilvaproductions2 жыл бұрын

Seriously, I’m talkin bout 200 MPH in the marked and unmarked civic cruisers. 200+ MPH CROWN VICS. Not exactly the early 2000s, but PS1 ports could be wildly different than the PC version during the end of the PS1's lifespan. For example, the PS1 version of Need for Speed 4 had fewer tracks and a cut-down career mode, and the PS1 version of Need For Speed 5 was an entirely different game, and by that I mean not a single track was the same, career mode was different, quick race modes were different, music was different, only some cars were shared. Funny thing is the PS1 version had better handling.
@Δημήτρης-θ7θ2 жыл бұрын
@@BlooTeg Imagine trying to fit a game made for the Xbox 360's 512MB of unified memory to the PS2's 32MB main memory (plus 4MB video memory), and having to deal with the PS2's "emotion engine" running at a blazing speed of 300MHz at the same time. It's easier to have a B-team produce an entirely separate game or license some no-name game and dress it up as a Harry Potter game. Don't know which route they took however.
@tannenfreund87 Жыл бұрын
@@Δημήτρης-θ7θ Yes, these two nfs games are a good example. But it gets more complicated. Nfs HS was basically a EA Canada product, and the PS version was the original as developed by EA Canada. EA Seattle, the original developers of the nfs series, ported it to the PC. But they didn't use the graphically more advanced engine from EA Canada's NFS HS, but a improved version of their own NFS 3 engine (which served nfs 2 and tnfs before. Which made more sense, looking at the average specs of a PC that day, NFS HS still supported software rendering. So when EA Seattle ported HS to the PC they included all the tracks of 3 and an enhanced career mode. At some point HS was also just planned as an add-on for 3, but EA figured out, it would earn more, selling it as stand alone. NFS Porsche for PC was then solely developed by EA Canada, as EA Seattle was busy with motor city online. MCO then used a modified PC NFS HS engine, NFS Porsche the PS NFS HS engine, ported to PC. If you play NFS HS on PS and then Porsche on PC, you'll notice the graphical effects and the handling of the cars is quite similar. Also, apparently the handling of the Porsches was too realistic for an NFS game, they increased the size of the tracks and played with the FOV, to make the handling more bearable, especially with a keyboard.
@misfit77562 жыл бұрын
This game's PC version is better than many other NFS titles. there is wheel to wheel racing which many other NFS dont offer. you overtake all your opponents at the very beginning and it turns into a checkpoint chase. Cop chases are difficult unlike many modern titles such as payback. the map acts as a good racing map with sharp and twisty turns. great number of cars to choose from especially at the time of release and could've had one of the best story if most of it's elements weren't deleted making it. And the difficult handling can be put to great use with an aggressive driving style. And apart from sunset hills with the yellow filter, Tri city bay and the mountainous areas look decent and provide fun races.

My best guess (based solely on speculation and no actual facts or evidence,) is that the device that is presented with absolutely NO CONTEXT or clues during the ending was supposed to be elaborated on more in NFS Most Wanted (the 2012 version) before the original story got junked. I don't remember enough to know if there was any reference to Most Wanted or Carbon in undercover, and whether it was possible for those two stories to combine, but if there was going to be anything that told us what the device was used for, it would have more than likely been there. (Or it might have explained it during the story of undercover, its been a minute and I don't remember much from it.)

The Wii version of this game is one of my biggest guilty pleasures. The audio-visual differences in the PS2 version are pretty disgusting, I don't know how they messed that up when the two versions are otherwise identical. I know exactly why the game is bad. I have my own problems with the game that aren't even mentioned in this video. For some reason, my broken brain still loves it simply because I played it all the time as a kid with the laggy motion controls. And the glitches? Sometimes they can be really funny or interesting to me. I vividly remember turning around during the first mission of the game, flipping my car on an elevated area of grass, and then suddenly being launched at over 250 MPH backwards. I scrapped a Dodge Challenger, and the black stripes from that car replaced the stripes of my Shelby. Then, the game crashed when I tried to customize it. Another example is when you start a pursuit during a highway battle event. The cops will be able to use nitrous, and for literally no reason at all, can go upwards of 400 MPH, and start flying all over the place at random. It's pure chaos, especially when the Porsches start to appear. Overall, the game is just dumb fun sometimes. Everytime you play, you never know what whacky shit might happen next. I'm actually about to play it when I'm done writing this.

The game is pretty much Carbon internally, including cut content still being present, and the whole menus like you said. So much so you can grab the soundtrack files from this and use on Carbon, as Speedy showcased. The soundtrack has nothing from Pro Street, it's all exclusive to Undercover, and PS2/Wii versions have a few exclusives themselves, although all those instrumental versions are fillers. The lag caused by editing vinyls and car parts in general is not exclusive to this game. It happens in all platforms but some fare better, and it started in Carbon. On Pro Street, entering a race day and quitting back to the menu somehow speeds up the sliders and vinyl movement speed, makes it a bit inaccurate but any help is appreciated. And yes this game has severe performance issues, many aren't present on Wii version though. Want a tip? Disable the HUD, especially the rearview mirror. It applies to every game as far back as TNFS on PS1, yes really. In most games when you disable the HUD and the map location as well as traffic/opponent conditions apply, you can reach a locked 60FPS.

Don't forget the fact that BlackBox only had 8 months to complete this entire game 😢😔 If they had enough time then this would have been a perfect sequel to NFS carbon. (Atleast EA realised this mistake after the failure of NEED FOR SPEED (2015), but by then BlackBox was dead😢)and that's why i never played NFS again after Hot pursuit 2010, they just lost its soul. NFS MW, NFS CARBON and NFS UNDERGROUND 1&2 were made with passion and love and that's why no one forget it even after 20 years...

Thought about buying a copy of this the other day but what really got me is that I'd legit NEVER heard of it before. At least with games like NFS Rivals, NFS:HP, UG, UG2 and MW you hear about them. Because they have their own dedicated fanbases to keep the games alive, hell HP and Rivals servers are still up and running to this day with the modern day rereleases/remasters.

I've played all the og nfs games and the only menu theme that really stuck with me and carried weight is arguable the least memorable one, which was Belt by Ekstrak in NFS Carbon, only because it's the one i played the most, with Most Wanted being the one i love the most. That techno beat bounces around my skull to this day.

When I saw this thumbnail, I was triggered and was about to say that I actually enjoyed playing the game on PS3 after doing it again on PC for countless hours until I realized it was the ps2 version that I never played. I didn't have any complaints and despite being older, I still find enjoyment to some of the critics. I even platined it, 100% completed while enjoying soundtrack. What made me come back was the Reformed project which makes the gaming experience even better. Also, I never understood the appreciation around Pro Street. Never been fan of this title. I stopped enjoying NFS franchise since Most Wanted 2012.

I think we all just have a different taste on what we believe NFS should be, lots of people said they actually like the PS3/360 version of Undercover, and the amount of dislikes on this one only reinforces that hahah But I totally respect that, even though I'm not a fan of undercover, maybe I just didn't appreciate it for what it was.
@Navi_Silver2 жыл бұрын
@@BlooTeg we all have opinions and i understand that too. Not the best in the franchise but still a decent title to play time to time. Once you cleared the entire game, there's nothing more to do apart multiplayer but it's desert there lol. You might not have appreciated it for what it was or i would say what it wanted to be. Like we all know, development team has been splitted in two, one for Pro Street and the other for Undercover. NFS Undercover had ambitions, good ideas, a good concept but sadly, probably due to deadlines, we didn't get the expected result. Is it a reason to hate ? No, it has flaws but i think we can agree on the fact there's worse than this (hello NFS 2015 : online only for solo experience AHEM...). Being said, there's PC version of UC currently being revamped with the upcoming release of Reformed Project 7.0 update (i let you look up for that online ;).

I'm that guy who enjoys ProStreet much more than Undercover (PC, never really tried PS2 ver.). For me ProStreet is its own fun game. A simcade with a bit more 'cade, before GRID. The nice atmosphere of the game (I always enjoyed the legal street race atmosphere), the fun AF and bonkers speed race mode, simpler and honestly more engaging story. ProStreet also reminds me somewhat of Porsche Unleashed which also tried to be more realistic (even moreso with that game). Undercover on the other hand feels like inferior MW/Carbon, and I'd rather play those games instead.

devil's lawyer here,i said it before in the NFS sub and i'm saying it here now too:if the studio in charge of it's development was given more time and money,this may have turned out as the best Need for Speed ever crafted considering it -at least on paper- singlehandedly gathered the best assets of Most Wanted and Carbon alike,only being held back by technical problems -great driving physics (*I* liked them) -Rockport map (although rearranged and with a non-updated minimap) -liveries designer -the best/most iconic cars of them both (including a few new ones,i remember seeing a '08 Camaro and a Pagani Zonda) -autosculpt and overall an A tier customization system -splitscreen (with cops and robbers modes too,for fuck's sake...) -challenge series -BLOODTHIRSTY cops (hell,you could even manually call them on you)

In prostreets defense, it wasmt supposed to exist, undercover ("the chase" as it was codenamed) was supposed to be a two year development, but ea was pissy about that and forced the dev team to split in half and made half of them make a game for that fiscal year (prostreet) which they did... with like 12 people... from scratch... over the course of like 6 months...

About 20 people from the start I think, but over time the number increased. Back in the day, I felt like I was the only one who actually liked the idea of progress from streets to circuits. I loved those videos they made specifically as an explanation of why they weren't following the old formula. They were connected closely with the car culture back then, only fools raced on the streets and they knew it well, so they created a vision of what could have been. (I reccomend to watch Birth of Need For Speed ProStreet) The new physics engine which was developed specifically for Prostreet, was made by real data collected from Porsche test track in Germany it aimed to make the handling more challanging, it was not sim-racing grade but the most advanced in the whole franchise, it also added impressive damage system and it had some great tunes too. The amount done to make the game was astonishing and it was a heartbreaker to know it was treated by critics as unwanted garbage. Never forget the speed races, those were fucking terrifying.

So you watch Kuru too? What a small world we live in... Btw I never enjoyed this version of Undercover, however I loved ProStreet for ps2. Aside from the graphics, it was more enjoyable to do the speed events, at least for me. Having only 3 oponents on the track while doing speed challenges is way more manageable than competing against 7 drivers like on xbox 360 and pc. However, I do enjoy the 60 fps on 360 and pc.

i got this game from a video rental store on thnksgiving 2008 and I beat it before dinner......it was the shortest game ive ever played. I later played the PS3 version which was more of the same but with online, better graphics and better physics, but was just still bland....the open world felt just as dead as the bare PS2 version. my first NFS was NFS 3 Hot Pursuit, so i fell in love with those classic style games. NFSU and NFSU2 were the last 2 that i fully enjoyed until 2010s NFSHP came out. I wish we could get more old school style NFS games, but everyone nowadays just wants customization and a goofy story with hyper and super cars......I miss the old games with more regular street cars that the average person could afford. The old NFS is dead and gone sadly....the next NFS will cater to the younger generation and i know i wont like it.

this ver of Undercover is more like a reskin of Carbon more than Most Wanted. The car lists (minus Subaru Impreza, Alfa Brera & Audi Le Mans Quattro, but with a few latest additions like 997 GT2 & 370Z but the latter is only playable in Quick Race & Split Screen MP), gameplay, & handling characteristics are pretty much Carbon. The only things that're carried over from Most Wanted is just the map that're heavily modified to resemble "Tri-City Bay" from the main ver & cops becoming relevant to the gameplay once more (but they're kinda dumb af from the ai, sometimes they didn't even bother to chse you while you slide past them 200+ mph while the other hand they spawn like hell & decide to chase you a few moments latter) But what makes the Exient Undercover to be at least better than BB Undercover is that it had a better handling (it's pretty much Carbon & it had alot to be desired but the car felt alot faster & satisfying than the main ver) & you can finally called a cops & instantly engage a pursuit with them a few seconds later with a flick of D-Pad down (it pretty much you called a 9-1-1 & tell them "hello cops i am a bad guy, catch me if you can")

I noticed a lot of oddities playing this on the Wii. (PS2 and Wii versions are basically identical) and there's straight up visible buildings floating in the air in one part of the map, overlapping already existing buildings. I shit you not. I also noticed a TON of fences around the map aren't transparent, so most of the stuff they surprisingly put the time to add behind inaccessible areas will never get seen. Lots of weird texture issues too, like I saw this crane holding a shipping container, and for whatever reason, the textures meant to represent the doors were on the sides of the container, as well as just part of the crane texture taking up half the container too. Lots of assets ripped from Underground all the way to Carbon, which look really weird. You get a lot of disproportionate props. A couple traffic cars are recycled from Most Wanted/Carbon and oddly enough, Burnout Paradise. It's a freakin' fever dream to play this, but in a weird way, I love this ridiculous adaptation of Undercover.
