Derailments, railroad accidents, street running trams trains, dangerous railway places, trespassing on railroad property, railway car implosion, steam train race, fire trucks wait for train, malfunctioning railway crossing signals etc. I am not anti police. There are bad employees in all lines of work. I worked in public service for over 2 decades working with county government enforcing state and local rules and regulations so I am familiar with law enforcement. The clip with the Kenton County Police Department in Kentucky was a hard decision for me to post. KCPD has 2 officers who I had to file written complaints on: Trevor Rohe and Gary Helton. Also, here is the rest of the story on the girl who overdosed next to me when I was trying to film a train. • Video The girl was revived with Narcan and lived.
The imploded railway car / carriage was just west of Cincinnati near Delhi. It was not an exploded railroad car, it was an imploded railroad car! I have lots of videos of inoperable railroad railway crossing gates at level at grade railway crossings so click the link below. Female railroad employees are rare. Railroad maintenance is one area I have not seen a woman in yet. Female engineer and female conductor, yes, but rare. Thanks for watching! please comment, rate and subscribe to Jawtooth!

I love the sound of that steam locomotive blowing his horn! Were you actually stopped because you had a scanner? If so what state was that and what happened?

Yes, I was in Independence, Kentucky and arrested by the Kenton County Police Department. They impounded my car, questioned me for hours and threw me in jail. I had to hire a lawyer and go to court. My lawyer gave the judge a copy of the Kentucky law that says it is legal for an amateur radio operator to have a scanner in a vehicle. Then I showed a copy of my valid radio license to the judge and all charges were dropped. I broke absolutely no laws and went through the Twilight Zone for these ignorant cops who would not listen to me when I tried in vain to explain the law to them. My feelings for the police have changed from respect to distrust. This was my first time to ever sit in the back of a police car and I was in my 50s and retired from government work in Ohio. If this can happen to me, then it could happen to anyone. I always thought that if you followed the law you had nothing to worry about. Man, was I wrong! From now on when I see the police I immediately leave the area and keep my mouth shut.

@@JawTooth most cops are good but you do have a few ignorant ones in the bunch. Don't act suspicious because that makes them suspect something is going on. Just act normal and wave and move on. I don't understand why you could get arrested for having a scanner. That is crazy.

@@eddielane9569 Most police are pretty good but I ran into some bad ones. In Kentucky and a few other states its against the law to have a device in your vehicle that is capable of receiving police frequencies unless you are a fire fighter, EMT, police, tow trucker operator and a few others or if you have an amateur radio license like I have. I could not convince the police about the exemption for amateur radio operators and they just would not listen to me. I had my license on me and they refused to look at it. The way the law is written, anyone with a cell phone is breaking the law since there are apps that you can download to listen to the police with. I don't listen to the police though, I just use my scanners for trains and fire departments since I use to be a firefighter for a couple of fire departments in Ohio and Kentucky.

@@JawTooth I am a retired Paramedic/ Firefighter from Northwest Florida and I've had a few different scanners but in Florida it's not illegal to have one or listen to police or anyone else. It is a shame that it's illegal in other states.

As an over the road trucker, driving a two axle truck, under 13 tons, I was allowed to drive without a CDL, in 48 states and Canada. Once, in Ontario on 401, and once in Wyoming, I was held at weigh stations, by officers for about an hour. In Canada, the guy said I needed a permit, and would have to go to London, about an hour away, and get a permit. (Without the truck) I called the company, who assured me that I didn't. I kept telling the guy, but he was unmoved. Then , another officer Showed up, and asked what was going on, the guy told him, and the new guy points to my truck, and says "that one?" (I was the only truck there) . First guy says yes. Second guy says " he doesn't need a permit! Only 3 axle , 13 ton trucks need one, and released me. In Wyoming, An officer held me insisting that I needed a CDL, after coming on duty, when the guy I was next in line for, went to lunch. Finally, this one went to another officer, who asked if I had air brakes? I said "no" , he said, go on , you don't need one. I was pulled over on I-10 after getting a " Bypass Scale" sign, when entering Arizona, from California, and got a $400 ticket. I wrote a letter to the court, and they dropped the charge. Numerous times, in many states, l was pulled over, and inspected by state or county police because they thought I was too far from home in a straight truck, or (my guess) ,that they had to fill an inspection quota, and my truck would be easy for them to inspect. My feelings are cops are the bullies from high school, who want to do it professionally, and Transport Enforcement officers are the bottom 10 percent of the class, in the State Police Academy. Most State Police are professional about it, but County or locals ( like the ones chasing the railfans away from the excursion train, In this video) are usually pretty ignorant. Thanks, I feel better now.

I'm retired law enforcement, and those officers and I would have had a bit of a discussion about overreaching authority. You were not blocking traffic, nor were you on the roadbed, so i see no proble here. I photograph trains as well, and I've been stopped by Metro North PD who were nothing but gentlemen, without me showing a shield.

Stupidly has no boundries, or maybe they bored, Yeah that was it!! I've been harrassed by the police to, I respect all law enforcement officers, but sometimes they need to be reeducated just make sure you are not violating any laws when you have to correct an officer, always request a supervisor. I use to cut my equipment off when approached by an officer, out of respect, their body cams are on, so my equipment stays on. They've got their documentation and so do I. Any time the police show up that is never made public. And no I'm not sovereign degenerate by no means. The police have enough to worry about without me adding to the problem. Now they all know me, and some have even brought me coffee. Keep a good relationship with the police, city and county officials, they don't bother me anymore.

In different parts of the country, in different departments, there are many excellent, professional police officers. In others, there are power tripping cops who obsess on forcing people to comply with their authority and ignore the rules on what they can do. Much respect for the good ones, and the bad ones must be removed.

There's a town just like La Grange in Kentucky right here in New Zealand. Called Kawakawa, and there's the old Northland main line running right down the middle of town. While the line hasn't been used for commercial freight in decades, it does hold the occasional steam excursion day there. Much of our mainline diesel fleet wouldn't be able to run that far up north as the rails are fairly light duty and haven't been maintained in many years

Sorry for the late reply. It's more likely that that line in particular was in disuse for so many decades that the real-estate agents sought to buy as much land as close as they could to RR tracks as possible to make as much money as possible when selling the property/home. With the thought that since the lines hasn't been used in several decades, then it wont ever be used.

A usually high amount of derailments are due to lack of track maintenance! We went from a 15 man track gang down to zero with virtually no inspections and switch lubrication. The derailments went through the roof and the company chose to discipline they're out of the problem-it didn't go away! Momma always said,"stupid is as stupid does"! Be very cautious around railroads and anything that can explode like refineries or power plants. The next generation is in charge now and this is what you get!

Hot damn that first clip ... I sleep in my shop, and keep jazz musician hours ... a train comes through every day 10-12 or so, and it's maybe 20, 25 feet away, and I sleep right through it. But those people, wow, 5 feet?

What a nightmare, a train cruising down the middle of main street. And who in their right mind would live in a house 5' from a train track?
@GaryCameron780
@GaryCameron780 7 жыл бұрын
I was wondering which was there first? The track or the house? And how did it come to be that way? Elsewhere I saw a photo where a railroad literally crosses the driveway to a garage, making the driveway difficult to park on without fouling the track.

It is really cool watching trains in LaGrange. They built a viewing platform for the railfans that gets you about 10 feet above the ground and is right on the curve where the streetrunning starts. Not too far into the future most of these trains will be rerouted through Indianapolis instead of going through Cincinnati. They are working on upgrading and adding a track for the bypass route. Better see these trains while you can but they wont all be gone.

A little "observation" on what happened. Many are questioning about the scanner, but there is another under laying issue here, which also at issue here. When he was questioned by the police, they asked about filming trains. Ever since 9/11 and the so called "Patriot Act" at times train watching was (is) considered to be "a terrorist" activity. In reality [they] where told to keep an eye out for people filming trains. Unfortunately, some law enforcement and railroad personal take a zero tolerance stand toward it, not knowing that there is a difference, and knowing the rail fans bill of rights (listed below in on of my other comments). When, stopped, they saw the scanner, and used that as another reason to make an arrest. When confronted with the facts, and the truth, it is human nature not to admit fault. The thing about scanners is, they often do not the "public" listening in (however it is legal). My advise would be, if you are going to run with a scanner in your vehicle, have at least one bank with Amateur Frequencies in it, that or if you have a mobile 2 Meter (or Duel Band) radio, load your RR freqs in that radio. Your radio [should not} transmit on RR channels, and you will be covered (as long as you have your Amateur License).

So, filming Trains is a Terrorist act now? What a load of Bullshit. Yet they are allowed to leave Trains unattended? Wherein they roll down a hill and explode, destroying a town? We know who the real Terrorists are. They obviously don't want to be caught doing some shady shit, as you could see in the clip where the ""Authorities" are shooing away the people watching/filming the train. That's funny, this makes me think of that movie "Super 8"

I use to say the same thing until I was falsely arrested for having a scanner in my car while trying to film a train. I no longer trust the police . I always thought that if you were obeying the law then you had nothing to worry about. Man was I wrong! You can be arrested at any time even if you are the Pope. From now on I only film trains in areas where there are no police. I wont even talk to them again no matter what unless I'm filing a written complaint on them. I know they're not all bad but the ones who are bad just ruin it for all of them. This comes from a guy who use to be a firefighter, Boy Scout and I worked for the government for over 20 years and retired from the government. I worked alongside the police and would overlook things that they did since at the time I was in full support of the police. I only opened my eyes after they took away my rights and put me through the ringer without even as much as an apology. Thanks go out to cowardsTrevor Rohe and Gary Helton of the Kenton County Police Department in northern Kentucky.

I'm thinking about making a video recreating exactly what happened if everyone is interested. These police never heard of railfans and arrested me for having a radio that I used to listen to the trains on. It was like being in the Twilight Zone. I had never been arrested or sat in the back of a police car and then all of a sudden I run into this situation. They would not listen to anything I had to say and they towed my vehicle, went through my cell phone and possessions and threw me in jail. I never broke a single law! This can happen to anyone. I worked for the government and this happened to me. If people are interested, I will make a video recreating the whole thing.

@@RedWingsninetyone Wrong. It is not illegal in any states to have scanners! In a few states like Kentucky it is illegal to have a scanner in a motor vehicle unless you work as an emergency responder , a tow truck operator, a few other instances or you have an amateur radio operators license. I had a license as a Technician Plus amateur radio operator but the moron cops did not know that was part of Kentucky law. I had the license in my wallet and I tried to tell them about it but they would not listen. I tried to explain the law to the idiots but they simply would not listen. I had to go to court and the entire case lasted at most about 5 minutes until the judge threw out all the charges because I never broke any laws. I never got an apology and the Kenton County Police Department never paid back my costs. I could still sue them. I did place written complaints in their permanent personnel files, I discussed this at their annual merit board meeting and I went on cable TV in northern Kentucky to let the people of Independence, Kentucky know what kind of ignorant cowards that they have as police. I call them cowards because when I went to the police department to complain to the chief about them, they were too cowardly to face me. The two that I made my complaints on were Trevor Rohe and Gary Helton. I am going to make a video about what happened but I still need to make sure that my written complaints are still in their personnel files. Since I worked for the government, I know how it works. Those complaints have to stay in their files forever and I can just about guarantee they will throw them out as soon as they think I gave up on this. I learned that there are dishonest police out there and anyone can be arrested at anytime even if they have not broke any laws. This was a real eye opener for me since I worked alongside the police in my county position and I have friends who are in law enforcement.
