To improve the hagelslag test: - Use proper bread (and put a second slice on top to make eating less awkward). - Use proper dark chocolate hagelslag (I mean, this was "Light".....). And more of it! - Replace the "butter" with real "roomboter"! - And if you want to go the extra mile, forget about butter and use Pindakaas instead!

@@Mark_Markery All that said, we have our own verbal hell in Swedish with combinations like sk, skj, sj, stj, lj, kj, k in general, g, gj and a bunch of others 🤣 My boyfriend tried a Swedish tongue twister the other day and he did surprisingly well with it, guess because some of our difficult sounds aren’t too different from Dutch at times. Swedish and Dutch has a fair bit in common and many words are the same or very similar either in spelling or sound. A while back my boyfriend needed to get something from the shed but couldn’t remember the English word at the time so he just said schuur and it sounded very similar to skjul which is shed in Swedish so I knew instantly what he meant 😄 Another example of words that are same or similar… Hail… Hagel in both languages only difference is how it’s pronounced

It really isn't important. I'd wager the average dutchy buys their bread at the grocerystore and uses margarine. Also definetely not dark chocolat, but the regular (milk) variant. If you don't like it like that, you probably won't like it either with quality bread and real butter.

Fairy bread sprinkles are all sugar which is why they taste 'better', our fairy sprinkles from de Ruyter have actual fruit juice in them. And the fries themselves were Flemish if I saw the package correctly, the combo is indeed great as you tried it but in other places in the NLs it's different sauces (which really messed me up). So be careful where you order xD

Some additional tips: 1 Choose brown bread instead of white. It’s healthier and tastes better. 2. Don’t ruin you hearing by sprinkling raw onions on it. Eat it without anything. The onions are a habit from the past to neutralise the taste of very old hearing. Nowadays hearing is fresh. 3. Put the sauce aside of your fries instead of on top of it. As the fries on top become really soggy and most of the time there is hardly any sauce left for the fries on the bottom. Plus your hand get really dirty if you reach for the bottom fries in the sack. 4. Try ‘filet americain’ on a pistolette. It is typical dutch.
