Why are the snakes living in so small boxes ?
@SapphirasMama4 жыл бұрын
Ball pythons love living in dark boxes, like if they are underground. Billy spoke about a snake he had that was in a tank, it would not eat, shed or do anything normal. He than put into the tub and it ate, shed and did normal behaviours. These snakes have room to be on a warm spot, they can move to a cooler spot and they are comfortable in this environment. Females have larger tubs than the males. The snakes start off with a smaller tub as a baby and upgrade as they get bigger. All the snakes so far look great

I was wondering about the breeding of mother and son, when it comes to mammals like dogs and cats and such, we don’t like to do that because of genetic defects. When it comes to other species such as reptiles, is it different because of genetic make up and such? The breeding back to a parent doesn’t give chances of issues? Not trying to condescend or anything, simply curious as to how it works with organism types. Another thing, I was wondering could you change the card to have a space for Male 1:____ and Male 2____ and then on the back put the locking dates observed so you can have easy record with the card and then maybe a space to write the page number or clutch number to find the pictures quickly if needed later? This way you could still write down the different males and not have worry about having to look it up to make sure you had it right :) just a couple ideas for you for next year.
@SapphirasMama4 жыл бұрын
So there doesn't seem to be issues with immediate family in snakes. Now if its potentially generations apart and the animals are related eg. Male mated to its great great granddaughter it may cause issues. Mammals seem to have severe genetic issues when they breed with immediate family members.

i recommend using a razor balde an don't cut the eggs so big and also not cut them until they start pipping

Someone explain to me why breeders cut the eggs instead of allowing the babies to hatch naturally. No hate or negative feedback please. Im not familiar with the breeding process so thats why im asking. Thanks. 🐍😀
@trinityinfinite-gaming56385 жыл бұрын
It's to avoid babies drowning in their fluid, if their egg tooth isn't big enough they will die in egg, it increases odds of live babies
@cathyt1445 жыл бұрын
Trinity Infinite-Gaming thank you so much for explaining this. Ive been watching a lot of these reptile breeders do this and was just curious. Basically its about $ when it comes down to it. I know they dont enjoy loseing babies either. I breed birds so i know the worries involved with babies I handfeed my chicks from 2-3 wks. Its easier on the parents and i have healthier babies as well.
@PaisleyBonnetMacaque5 жыл бұрын
@@cathyt144 what kind if birds do you breed? Im lookong for a baby cockatoo either umbrella or moluccon or a scarlet macaw baby thatni can hand feed. Ive handfed babies before and fostered many birds so im not a newbie but am having trouble finding a reputable breeder not a scam.

@rcrow20115 жыл бұрын
I'm not a snake breeder or owner but I definitely have some important questions I hope you answer for me. 1- Why would you breed a female snake to her own sons? I've also heard you say that you were holding back a brother & sister from the same clutch to breed them to each other in a couple of years. Doesn't this cause deformities? 2- I know you are a snake breeder & produce snakes for money but do you ever really think of their mental well being? Are there any humane standards or guidelines in the snake world/business? They are living creatures after all. 3- I've noticed that your racks are filled with 1 size of drawers no matter what size your snake is. Your larger snakes can't even stretch all the way out. Your snakes have no stimulation whatsoever as they are all kept in a 1 size fits all plastic drawer, coconut substrate & 1 small bowl of water (that sometimes is barely 1/2 way filled)...that they can barely fit their heads in let alone their whole body. Day in & day out being held captive in darkness unless it's time to eat or be bred? That's one hell of a cruel life to be forced to have to live. 4- Why do you cut eggs 4 days before their due dates? Why don't you wait to cut until at least 1 snake in the clutch pips?
@craigbrown36355 жыл бұрын
Duchess Rebekka that's how they're getting there different colorations colouration deformity the more rare the colour the more valuable the snake I myself am not a fan of it but at the same time they're very beautiful snakes
@pugsabi5 жыл бұрын
1. No deformity if it's only a few generations. Incest in snakes in the wild is pretty common. 2. Yes there are guidelines, from habitat size, temp, food type etc. However, it is set by snake enthusiasts, rather than a snake police force. The community guilds and polices themselves. 3. They are ball pythons. In the wild they send 95% of their time hiding in a dark hole or termite mound. They actually get stressed out if their enclosure is too big. You can add more enrichment and some people do, but generally they don't seem to move around much. If it were a different species, like a corn snake, the enclosure would be different since their requirements are different. 4. He's mentioned it before, and the topic is controversial, but he does it that way because it works for him. He's mentioned that he does it more do to how they(the eggs) look at that time then it having to be exactly four days early. Sometimes he waits longer if they don't look ready yet.
@pugsabi5 жыл бұрын
@@craigbrown3635 While certain morphs(colors) are prone to deformities or defects, the morphs themselves are genetic traits. It's like hair color in humans or coat colors in dogs etc.

@@pugsabi certain morphs and pairing do cause deformities and different problems so breeders do not pair certain morphs its all trial and error.
@loudigity05 жыл бұрын
Do your research before you start running your mouth. Like people told you 95 percent of there life in wild is in small holes and such. Puppy mills and animals that are not reptiles get treated bad go to there channels and write your books to them. I think you need to join peta think about these animals get to eat all the time and bang all the time and dont have to do much of anything in the wild they get eaten hunted if they get infections or diseases they dont survive in captivity they get cared for when infections happen etc. These guys are professionals and have been taking care of ball pythons for years so know your role and shit your hole. That was for the duchess character.
@DarkDraega5 жыл бұрын
Why do you cut your eggs with such huge, gaping open slits? It’s better to make a C shaped cut without cutting off any shell so that the flap of shell can close after and that the yolk, white and baby snake inside doesn’t dry out too soon which is especially good to do for babies that need more time...it would be a much better practice especially since you were losing tons of white from each egg already... you don’t need to cut off the shell just leave it attached even.

Shouldn’t eggs hatch naturally?
@SapphirasMama4 жыл бұрын
Well some babies are missing the egg tooth or deformed egg tooth leading to the animal drowning in the egg. So cutting the eggs allows the babies to come out of the eggs in their own time without drowning due to being too weak or egg tooth issues.
@txangel9225 жыл бұрын
Write both males on back of the cards maybe.
@valeriefergusson2694 жыл бұрын
Why do you use two males?
@SapphirasMama4 жыл бұрын
Cause the male may have fertility issues and the female only releases slugs (infertile eggs and if it happens with the same male but multiple females than you know its the male's issue) or there is no observed mating, so they put another male in close to what they want to have bred. Sometimes you can have multi-father clutches.

What do y’all think about if you have bred with one father put him on the front. Or with 2 fathers put both names on the back, then you can wright on the front of the card BACK. That way it’s visible without pulling ya card, it would always be obvious theirs to fathers. Just a thought. I know I’m talking all over the place... but it sounds good to me. That way ya don’t have to always go back and look at log, and pictures. Just mark off the one it’s not, or also ya might end up with a split clutch. Hope I have helped some. It would be cool to see my idea used. Thank y’all for the content. Always good to see a clean good quality video.👌🏼🖤 🐍
