I mean , VVD can score more than 5 goals as CB in a season, while he has 3 after 150 games for Preston in EFL. Luckily Ozan Kabak look like he can score headers, but i not sure if he is calm enough to not give away stupid penalty and not dive into tackle every 5 seconds. Still young so I guess I prefer Davies for 1st month until Kabak settle in EPL completely.

He can become something special, you never know. Sometimes players coming from low leagues can surprise us, just remember Vardy. So is not weird, based on his numbers it looks like he got potential.

As a Liverpool fan I agree that the signing of Davies comes across as weird, but I don't think we'll see much of him because we also signed Kabak who will most certainly be ahead of Davies in the pecking order and will probably be vying with Phillips for the back up spot now that Matip has predictably picked up yet another long term injury, and I assume that Fabinho will continue at centre back.

I can't see Kabak being ahead of Davies, he's a hothead and right now we need a calm presence at the back, not someone who will get sent off or give pens away. Kabak will need to prove himself in training first, but until then, I believe we will see Davies starting.

Ben Davies is a far better player than I think you give him credit for, I've seen him play a fair few times and he's definitely prem quality remains to be seen if he can compete at the top but he'll do a job and ease the pressure on the likes of Hendo so he can stay in midfield where he's needed, its about time ppl start paying championship players a bit more respect, the only positions where you see a huge gulf in quality is in attack, the true prem strikers simply don't waste that many chances while championship level players usually will pass up 1 or 2 opportunities before they put one in, I'm a pompey fan and I was there when we lost 4-0 to scum at home and weirdly it was one of our better performances last season, we dominated the game for the first 30mins and they looked shell shocked, we had 5 or 6 golden chances that just didn't quite go in for us, scum had 4 or 5 chances all game even when they took over late on they weren't able to create much but the fact is with Danny ings upfront we couldn't afford to give them a sniff cos when he found half a yard it ended up in the net.
