Most westerners go here seeking another sort of cherry. This is much more wholesome and not creepy. Although the shot of you smiling blankly into the camera during the minor piano notes was pretty scary! Dark implications aside, this catalogue of actual unique fruits is very cool

Love the videos with more people - it would be really cool to find a team of like 3 people and go on fruit expeditions with them. Having a second opinion on the taste profile of fruits is also very useful (also because you don't drink or eat meat and some plants and fruits do taste similar).

Can't find durian where I live, but we do have mung bean and durian cakes that are imported from Vietnam. I always wanted to try durian, just to experience it, so I bought a package of those cakes, called Banh Pia Hopia Cakes. I was pretty sure I'd handle it just fine since I took to Vegemite immediately, love kimchee, and other foods not popular in America. I opened a pack and got my first whiff of durian. Holy cow, it was just as described in the product reviews, like a combo of a major natural gas leak mixed with rotten garbage, burned and rotten eggs, and nasty gym socks. Smelled like sasquatch, lol. I took a bite and found that it tastes WAY better than it smells. There was somewhat of an onion flavor to it, but otherwise it was sweet, creamy, and dessert-like. I made it through my first cake. Each successive cake was less offensive, and over the days I grew to associate that smell with the delicious taste. The smell got much better as a result. I haven't ordered another 12-pack of hopia cakes yet (ordered durian candy instead) but I will in the future. I wouldn't have tried it if I hadn't watched your expert videos on durian.

Not too many different ones than what I found in Cambodia. I wonder if you ever found a durian that has longer and curved spikes on it. I found it once in a market in Kampong Chnang and it didn't have a bad smell at all. Was very good.
@WeirdExplorer6 ай бұрын
This one just has some old favorites. Future Thailand episodes have some rarer fruit. Not sure how it compares to Cambodia though, that's still on my list of places to visit
@bongmuon6 ай бұрын
@@WeirdExplorer It is much harder to find the rarer fruits in central Cambodia now. 20 years ago people would be able to go into the jungle and nearby mountains to get them but most of the jungles there have been clear cut and now only monoculture farms remain. Some of the mountains have even been razed by foreign countries. Probably best to stick to the wilder parts of Cambodia if you do go.
