Something very similar to that grows wild in the Ozark region of Arkansas and Missouri, USA. It is locally called Ground Cherry, and is also a member of the Solanaceae group. They are not abundant and it takes a keen eye to see the approximately 1-foot tall plants. The fruits are not easily visible, as they are encased in a papery calyx shell, and are usually hidden under a leaf. They are actually a wild variety of the commercially available Tomatillo, but much sweeter to the taste. To find the Ground Cherry in the wild is a stroke of good fortune. They are yellow when ripe.
