There has been a couple of states never realized that wanted to be called Franklin. Northern California as late as the 2000s there was talk of the northern counties leaving California to form a new state called Franklin, before Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado became states there was state proposed in the center of them to be called Franklin, and Eastern Tennessee wanted to leave the rest of the Tennessee (closest of becoming reality) early 1800s? that wanted to be called Franklin. TODAY, you can drive through eastern part of the state Tennessee and find the "State of Franklin" Banks.

When he left his brothers newspaper and went to Philadelphia, he walked from Boston to Philadelphia through the woods. It took him a few days, but can you imagine doing that? Located around 4th st. & Race street and only a few blocks from the Ben Franklin bridge going over the Delaware river to New Jersey. As a kid we would spend all day at the Franklin Institue. Glass harmonicas were replaced by keyboards that could make a similar sound. They're still popular on digital keyboards. I love the sound.

I don't think we have anyone today who can compare with Franklin. He was a self-made man, a polymath, and a statesman who if something didn't exist he created it. Moreover, he was someone who proved the value of wisdom and hardwork. I don't see any celebrities doing much more these days than saying stupid things and trying to seem avant garde.

If you've read or listened to his autobiography, you'll also realize how humble and self-aware the man was. He would admit his moments of vanity and would place the majoirty of his efforts on being a decent person. Because of his hard childhood and arriving at philadelphia with nothing, he came off as a really down to earth man.

In his later years, Ben Franklin suffered from kidney stones. He reached a point where he could not even walk, and if you don't know, kidney stones are incredibly painful. Trust me, I know far too well. But there was no viable treatment back then, so Ben suffered great pain when he grew old.
