Lottie is honestly my favorite disney friend character. Sure, she's the spoiled rich kid, but she never once looked down on Tiana. She paid for Tiana's food services - where most friends would expect not to have to pay BECAUSE they're friends - not to mention she paid way above what Tiana would have likely charged her. Lottie wears pink. We never see her in anything that isn't pink and poofy. Yet she has this gorgeous blue dress that just so happens to fit Tiana perfectly? And instead of being angry that Tiana netted the prince, she's willing to kiss a frog so her best friend can be happy. I love Lottie.

I’ve seen Lottie get a lot of criticism for not giving Tiana the money for her restaurant especially since they are best friends. If Lottie was to give Tiana the money, Tiana wouldn’t take it. She wants to work for what she wants, she doesn’t want handouts. Also it’s not like Lottie or her dad doesn’t support Tiana and her mom. Lottie is Tiana’s mom’s number one customer. She strictly gets get dresses from Tiana’s mom. Lottie and her dad always go to the diner Tiana worked out and I’m sure tip her amazingly. Also, if you’ve noticed Lottie only wears pink, that’s her color so why would Lottie have a blue dress that fits Tiana perfectly? Ppl theorize that Lottie had Tiana’s mom make Tiana a dress just in case anything happened at the party. It would explain why Lottie has a blue dress and why it’s Tiana’s size.

She did pay for Tiana to get her restaurant, after services were rendered and Tiana cooked. It’s just that those racist sons of bitches who were supposed to sell her the mill decided that a black woman couldn’t run their business. I’m not one for victim mentality, but that is a bum wrap, however you slice it.

As a New Orleans native and a Cajun woman, this is one of my all-time favorite Disney movies. The animators were so accurate in their depictions of the city, especially with the time of year it took place (Mardi Gras). The music sounds like your walking the streets of the French Quarter, and there are so many references to Voodoo, the swamps, food and French and Cajun culture which makes up so much of New Orleans. Also, to answer your question from the beginning of the video, gumbo is a rue based dish (kind of like a soup), traditionally served atop rice. It's a savory dish, and you can put all types of things in it. The most common variations of it are seafood gumbo (crab, shrimp and/or crawfish) or chicken & andouille sausage gumbo. My grandma always made it in the winter time, for family gatherings, or if anyone was sick. It's very comforting and delicious. Don't let how the name sounds deter you.

"When a woman says later, she really means, not ever." "Really?!" ...No. lol. Lotte is written to poke fun of the stereotype of the American "Southern Belle," which is that when they say "Bless her heart," they really mean "F*** that b****." This is, of course, like any other stereotype, and not an accurate representation of all women or even all women from the American South.

Maybe so, and yes she is more than a bit ditzy and shallow, but she’s got a good deal of compassion going for her. It takes a lot to give up on a childhood dream for the sake of a friend after all, and Lottie did so without hesitation. Intelligence be damned, she’s got heart to spare.

@@Welchy Here's something to make you feel better... Charlotte isn't just a dumb blonde in this. She's spoiled, yes, but not snobbish. The money she pays for Tiana's catering? A lot of people see that as a rich girl throwing around money and overpaying for a simple service. If that actually WAS Charlotte, she would have just bought the restaurant for Tiana. Tiana was too proud to accept what she saw as charity; she would have refused such a gift. So Charlotte found other ways to help the friend she grew up with. The blue dress she met Naveen in? Yes, it was in Charlotte's closet, but is not her style at ALL. Everything we see her in is pink and frilly. She'd probably had that sitting in there for a while, waiting for the right time to give it to her. Probably paid Tiana's mother to make it too. The tip cans we saw? I'll bet quite a few of those tips were from Charlotte and her dad. Charlotte was a good enough friend to want to help, and even better for doing it in a way that Tiana would gladly accept rather than just steamrollering through her friend's dream. We all need a Charlotte in our lives. :)
@aliyahpulido953
@aliyahpulido953 2 жыл бұрын
@@warriormaiden9829 I love the idea that Charlotte paid Tiana's mom, or even any tailor at all, to make a dress with Tiana's measurements, and wait for the right moment to gift the dress to her! I also want to piggyback off that idea and the tip can thing that you said, and propose that Tiana has done catering for the LaBeouf family before and been paid for those events too. Though she probably just did smaller events like tea parties or visits from bureaucrats or stuff that requires service to fewer people, not big galas like the party where she and Naveen met. Even throughout the ~9 or 10 years of work Tiana may have been doing, she was likely paid around $20 tops even for bigger jobs, and just pennies in tips, given the money conversion from today's USD worth compared to the same amount in the 1920s, when this movie takes place. Tiana has been working for many years since she's about 22 in the movie and she could've likely started working as young as 14 during the 1920s in Louisiana, though I would also guess that because she's always been hardworking, maybe she started doing odd jobs in her spare time when she wasn't at school and getting paid with pocket money under the table. The movie hints at racism and sexism as well, so if we factor that in, it's a miracle she made that much money in about 10 years. Even in the watered-down kids versions of racism, discrimination, and sexism portrayed in the movie, it was very lucky that Tiana had Louis as a "persuasion method" for the Fenner brothers to sell her that sugar mill property. In the Wiki for The Princess and the Frog, the restaurant's page says that the Fenner brothers' statement to Tiana that she was "outbid" is unlikely; It was VERY improbable that someone would've bid higher than her in just one week, right before she was about to close the deal with them on the property. Therefore, this is a lie they told her to avoid selling her the property. So not only did they condescend her about being a woman, and insinuate that "someone of her ...'background...' would have a hard time running a business like that," they straight-up lied to her and the way they did it is property fraud, which is illegal. I wished I had gotten to see more comeuppance for them for how they screwed her over.

In response to the comment on Tianna making tips waitressing when you didn't make tips as a waiter: in most waitressing jobs in the U.S., your tips ARE the income. Not hourly like fast food or other industries. Mostly due to the custom of tipping being something that is expected of the patron when eating out. So her tiny tips were her wages for the whole night.

Gumbo and nasty...in the same sentence? As someone who's from the southern U.S I'll have you know gumbo is one of the best foods you can get in all the U.S.A. I honestly really love the relationship between Tiana and Lottie ❤ Lottie is an odd little, loud mouthed, spoiled girl; but she does still care for Tiana like a sister. I believe even if Lottie was the one to break their curse before the clock ran out, that she would have hugged Tiana, then placed Tia's hands with Naveen's. I can't see Lottie taking the deal of "I'll marry you, but I need you to fund your best friends dream for me to marry you." I mean she's been helping fund Tiana, she gave her a wad of cash towards the beginning asking if it was enough. Lottie was already happy to help her best friend since childhood, I'm sure hearing a man (frog) say he cared for Tia and wanted to help her; that would have melted that spoiled romantic's heart.

Two things I've seen in other comments in other reactions (it's about the the Tarot card scene in the beginning): "It's the green you need...it's the green that I see" On the Tarot card, there was a lily pad underneath Naveen and the money. I have a theory about why villains are always in purple and green. I think it's to subtly imply pain and sickness. Bruises and infection. Even how some have yellow eyes, that's a real sickness. Pale skin means they stay inside and get no sunshine. Ultimately, in order for someone to be that sick and do nothing about it, or worse, think it's a good thing, they have to be mentally ill. So using these colors helps us feel like this person isn't safe. I don't know if that's actually why they use them, but it makes sense to me.

14:06 no, it is her. She died and then turned into a star 15:57 no, he just have to kiss a princess. When tiara wore the blue gown she got from her friend, he thought she was a princess because of the crown. But obviously she wasn’t, so that’s why she turned into a frog as well. In this Movie for once it’s not about true love, just about royalty

Gumbo (Louisiana Creole: Gombo) is a soup popular in the U.S. state of Louisiana, and is the official state cuisine. Gumbo consists primarily of a strongly-flavored stock, meat or shellfish, a thickener, and the Creole "holy trinity" ― celery, bell peppers, and onions. Gumbo is often categorized by the type of thickener used, whether okra or filé powder (dried and ground sassafras leaves).

its my fav disney movie, im glad you liked it. Its so cute that Tiana has such a great friend, she ignored her prince and helped her friend in need. Although she doesnt look like shes a good friend, shes actually the best made an extra dress for her as a costume to wear, helped her buisness in a way she as a hardworking person would accept it, just pure love

It's kind of subtle but Dr. Facilier words when making a deal with Prince Naveen and the Butler were actually truthful. "You just want to HOP place to place, but freedoms takes green....when I look into your future it's the greener that I see." And the card Naveen has, he's shown on a lilly pad made of money surrounded water. Just a bit of foreshadowing hint there. And how about the Disney Classics? Like Pinocchio, Sleeping Beauty, Bambi?

This movie takes place in New Orleans (obviously) so a lot of the things referenced, like voodoo, gumbo, Mardi Gras, beignets, are part of culture down in New Orleans. To me, that’s what has always made this movie feel so nostalgic. I love the other Disney Princess movies with their European charms, but I have family down in New Orleans, so this one really hit close to home for me.

Welchy… this movie came out 2009, my sis bday is today and was born that year ,so it’s almost 15 years old now😭 18:37 me every time I watched my favorite character die.😭🌟 I believe Tianna (TEA-Anna)’s dad died in war… WW2? The only gumbo I’ve had was seafood gumbo-which is like a brothy soup with thrown in veggies, susage, and all sorts if seafood.🤤🤲🏾🥘 As I got older I realized Charlotte is THE BEST best friend character from any Princes movie, she’s caring, supportive, and loves Tianna for who she is and what her passions are. 🎀♥️ I want a Prince Naveen in my life, he’s my #1 fav prince from my top 3 list😂

"What is gumbo?" It's not nasty! It's like stew really. In fact, it is a stew. It's a mix of different things like different types of meats and sausages, veggies, rice, ect. Most popular things to put in it is shrimp and shellfish. You would probably like it really. It's really good! Filling and warm! It's a more southern thing in the US where this story takes place but it's good. It doesn't sound good but it is good!
