Bit of a different video this time round! Interview with Anthony from Dahtone Racing about GTR’s. We talk RB26 vs RB30, Getrag vs Sequential vs DCT, where the scene is going etc.. Next week we’re back on the Supra, sneak peek for those that made it to the end :)

Cracking vid! Great chat, very well hosted, you've definitely found the groove here. Loving the channel. Thanks to Anthony for the time and insight. Known about his 32 for a long time, always appreciated it aesthetically, the attention to detail. His build's have been popping up on the radar more of late, can now appreciate he has also built a premier performance workshop and reputation. Would be hard to go past if choosing a workshop in Sydney. Keep it up!

Been here from the day you started "Poor mans GTR" been through a lot of your other stuff and I have to say, this is your best video yet, I love it when someone is passionate about what they do, it makes you feel at ease listening to them and your questions were spot on, your whole ethos towards the social media driven big power cars is like you've read my mind, glad I'm not alone in my outlook towards the big money builds, content at it's best and getting better.

Supply and demand was mentioned, in the UK we have SR Autosource who manufacture new replacement strut tops to OE spec for the 33 & 34 & sill repair panels for 32, 33 & I believe some S chassis, surely there's enough demand worldwide for other replacement panels such as rear 1/4's? as these are becoming harder to find? do you think we will see someone start manufacturing these panels one day? Anyway, great vid with Anthony, love his work.

Awesome video, really enjoyed it , great questions too ! When he said you treat a billet engine differently do you know what he meant ? As in was it servicing or the way you drive it ?
@DahtoneRacing3 жыл бұрын
This question requires a pretty long answer. But in short, due to the nature of aluminium and the rate that it grows with heat means the engine needs to be built quite tight, this means you need to be mindful of temperatures before driving or revving the engine. There’s much more to it but that’s the main concern.

What are the benefits of diesel block (rd28) for petrol engine (rb30 head)?
@BrokenSilvia3 жыл бұрын
The block is stronger and heavier from my understanding when wanting more than the average
@DahtoneRacing3 жыл бұрын
Main benefit of the RD28 is the deck thickness, ~12mm vs ~6mm on an RB26 or RB30. An inherent issue with RB engines when making over 1000hp and 1000nm is head gasket seal. Thicker deck helps maintain head gasket seal.

I, like many people want an R32(not the golf) and if I go on a hunt to get a nice car, not really caring about drive train but a a good shell. What problems are there with billet bottom ends assuming the block might be shit. I've found one that has a bad bottom end in my pricerange. the chassis is fairly good for a 31 year old car from what I know seeing pictures and talking with the seller.

Can a customer request Dahtone to put that ITB on their cars or is that a one for Anthony's car only?
@BrokenSilvia3 жыл бұрын
He produces the kit for RB30 powered cars as the throttle body is made to bolt to the block. I think they will produce a revised version where it will work on RB26 too
@DahtoneRacing3 жыл бұрын
We have just redesigned the kit to work with any ITB inlet manifold and RB/RD engine block combo. We will have it ready for sale to the public soon.

Hi guys, I'm glad for you that you love the nissan gtr and the rb26 engine, as any car has its expiration date, and no matter how long it stays - it will lie in some garage but not roads, you talked about bmw, so here you go a new m4 with a s58b30 engine and with all-wheel drive transmissions (on stage 2 this engine is 760 HP and more, a new transmission and a new firmware and we will see how much it can last), in the test gtr 34 and m4 (rear-wheel drive) the difference is not big (KZbin channel - carwow), so why buy a gtr?

Those 34s have probably had $200,000 pumped into them and on the market would fetch maybe $150,000. A stock 34 GTR in good condition is going for $300,000.
