Gal, you was rushing Fer Junkanoo from as soon as you could walk! You are originally a Harbour Boys. That's where you got your start. Your sister and brother were there ahead of you only because they were born before you. You Mommy gradually got me to stay life for you all was an adventure. When Fr. Reggie brought Majestic Crusaders I give Michael Wright my notice that year that we would transfer since this was a Catholic Church group. We rushed with Crusaders until that group was retired.

@@donaldduncombe681 couldn’t have said it better. I keep telling people the roots of our celebration comes from Ghana, but like our genetic makeup, the Junkanoo is influenced from throughout the African continent

Maureen Duvalier was not the originator of choreographed dance but the free dance for women in Junkanoo. Before her women were not allowed in Junkanoo. At that point Junkanoo was on Bay Street and groups rushed up and down on either side of the street from 4 am to Sunrise. Groups would leave Bay Street the same way they arrived back to Over-the-Hill.

@@donaldduncombe681 a lot of people give her credit for choreography, that’s why i wanted to correct that. Others give it to Roots, that’s why i said my story of my mother bringing it first.

@@bahamamike that has been a problem with much of our history. We wait to late to document it and it becomes open to who speaks first or loud.
