Lived on Bonnievale Ave from 1951 to 1962. I was at the opening of Smith Park and also the merger of Pico and Rivera ceremony. Started school at Valencia in 1955. Living close to El Rancho was great too. They always left the gym open in the summer for kids and the sounds of drums and cheering at the football stadium still echo in my mind.

I live in nyc and grew up in Pico, i miss my hometown sometimes and the memories i have of riding my bike thru the riverbed, getting off the 40 bus on beverly blvd and stopping at LUPE'S TACOS on my way home from school or cruising over to the indoor swapmeet with my Pops then swing over to SMITH PARK.

I live here. One end near the 5 is industrial and ghetto, the other end near Whittier is suburban and slowly gentrifying with house costing 800k and up. City government is good and is constantly improving. But shh don’t tell anyone.

@@krisser92 again, they must be so privileged that they actually choose to gang bang. In the Texas and the rest of the south, a lot of us live in trailers/RVs, sometimes there ain't running water etc. We work all day, we don't got time to sit on a corner and tag up streets or gang bang. We live real life down here. Califaz foos are spoiled brats.

Safer than it used to be. The cholos grew up and got kicked out due to gentrification 😂 then the gen z just don't dig gang stuff like they used to because of technology

I was raised on Beverly Rd in Pico. When I was 7 it Incorporated with Rivera. Pico and then Pico Rivera was a good town to grow up in. But beginning in the late 60s, like many parts of LA, it began to decline. Slowly at first. I finally moved out in 1984. Pico is not a safe city to raise kids.

I grew up in Pico and lived nearby since I got married with regular visits to my childhood home. Take pepper spray, a big walking stick and a guard dog on your family outing.

doubt. I've lived in Pico most of my life and honestly its one of the best places I've lived. yea, if you look up crime stats you do see Pico neck and neck with Compton. but that doesn't mean its bad. Pico Rivera is a tight nit community. most people are cool and not very ghetto. the people arent very white washed but theyre not 100% mexican either. the high school was like 98% Hispanic and gangs are a kid thing that middle schoolers and some high schoolers got into. for the most part people in pico are cool and down to earth. theyre just not white. im in la puente right now and ive been to ontario a lot. and i can tell you both those place are far worse than pico.

@@legendarypasos yea theres a small part of "pico viejo" that is pretty ghetto. but if that small 10% of the city is what is coloring your view of what the rest of pico is then your lost in your own world. pico isnt as bad as you think.
