The majestic theatre at 4:08-4:15 routinely holds some sizeable events in the town and is probably one of the most active venues in the community

When I was growing up in Shamokin, it had Capitol. Majestic, and Victoria theaters. The Vicky was a national landmark, but it was torn down.

When I was younger, I actually had my preschool graduation ceremony at the majestic theater so, that was cool I guess

Wow! Great information. I'm an investor in Pottsville. Despite our first impression of the town itself ; I believe a lot more people from larger cities will continue to flip homes and create opportunity for small businesses to thrive. I did notice there's no local grocery shops, cafes, and diverse restaurants. There is so much potential in this city. I look forward to seeing this town in a few more years.

My mother grew up in Pottsville; I loved hearing stories about her and her cronies and their antics. One notable place in Pottsville is the Necho Allen old age home which was a hotel at one time. The place really didn't turn me on. Hotel Magee in Bloomsburg was a great place to stay; that was my home away from home for some time

My great grandparents and grandparents are from here. My great grandma Edna Burkey was born in 1892 and died 1994. I was 14 at the time. My grandma was born in 1915 she had 10 children her first 4 were born here and then she moved to Lake Milton, Ohio for the many mills we use to have. I always loved this small town. Even though there was not much to do. I loved hearing all the stories.

I grew up in Shamokin and sometimes wonder what might have been different if it had been Pottsville instead, because Pottsville was much more substantial. Subsequently, Shamokin has totally disintegrated, with hardly any institutions surviving that existed during my time there.

Didn't really know about pottsvill until recently when i was passing through and saw a dude by the cabaleas on the side of the road that literally said "Pottsville is a shithole" and it became a joke for months on end but ive always wanted to check it out. But this video convinced me to actually check it out. There seems to be alot of hisorty to see

Pottsville will never come back it's dead it will soon be a ghost town it's been on the decline since the 1970es now they don't even have a grocery store in town a lot of people depended on giant market thay had a lot of people that walked to the store and I am one of them . Now it is harder to get groceries I have to walk to wise market If it was not for the salvation army store, the drug stores, cash and trading, dollar store, bank's and post office there would be no foot traffic.and the population is declineing look at all the empty house's and places that they have torened down.

Some times i think people talk shit in the comment sections about the town they live in on purpose just to keep outsiders from moving there cause Pottstown is not cheap and if it is so bad, then why the fuck would you continue living there??? Move to coatesville, same damn prices and much nicer.

Such beautiful memories I have of Pottsville my husband and I lived on center st now the apt building is condemned like most of these properties why not fix them up for low income or homeless people and let them have something nice and pet friendly as well but they do need to kill off all the roaches on w market st the pet store that us to be there was infested with hundred and hundreds of roaches and infested the who town kill off the roaches maybe I'll consider moving back of it is nice again and all of the sweet people I remember that lived there in the 86 are gone I often think about them and wonder what happened to them and my neighbor in minerville too
