Your not using the fast travel system. Once your towards the end of a level fast travel unlocks. Open your map and click on fast travel points. If the option for fast travel points isn’t there your not far enough into the level. By using the fast travel points you can go back to find things you missed.

I know this has probably already been said, but in the original Doom there was an issue when programing the enimies and they would be fighting each other as well as the doomguy/slayer and they've decided to make it part of the game from then on.

Man lemme tell ya. On my first playthrough of this, the block you punch around the 46 minute mark in the weird turbine thing, IT GLITCHED so I was jumping aimlessly around this level for hours trying to figure out what to do AFTER HAVING TRIED THIS SIX TIMES. I eventually had to restart the level, but since have 100% on nightmare 😁. Still can't hang in the battledome though 😣

Well... there is possibly a 13 year gap between the two games, according to the codexes. But you're right in that he is missing out on some lore/story, but nothing required if you just wanna enjoy the shooting. ;)
