*Eco-Art Exhibit on Butterfly Nectar Plants*
This eco-art exhibit will be hosted at Urbana Park District’s Anita Purves Nature Center, Urbana, Illinois, USA, from July 20 to the end of August, 2024. The opening reception is on July 24, starting at 2 pm. Everyone is invited to enjoy a free exhibition of 17 pictures showcasing butterfly nectar plants.
These pictures are the illustrations of the upcoming ecology picture book, "Butterfly Elf, What’s Your Favorite Nectar?", to be published next year. The artwork includes illustrations of milkweeds, star clusters, and kawakami hydrangea, along with butterflies native to Taiwan and the U.S., such as the monarch, tiger swallowtail, old world swallowtail, and zebra swallowtail.
The book is based on the butterfly pollination project aimed at educating elementary school children about butterfly ecology and environmental protection.
“In these times of global warming and ecological disaster, teaching children about nature is more important than ever,” said the artist James H. Yang. “This project is my personal contribution to help bring awareness to our plight.” He aims to promote ecological conservation through his project.
