Despite getting this at launch I am only half way through the missions (just life being busy). But, of the first half I have enjoyed mission 2: the journey the most because of the space station mechanic with the use of robots and plants. Mission 4, the mining, brought back the three long row layout of base Welcome to but I do find this one a bit more cumbersome. Still plenty to keep me coming back and this is the version of Welcome to that I come to when playing solo.

Just bought this game. Had it mailed to my family to play over vacation. Was only familiar with map 1. I've never played Welcome To. Looks like an interesting game. Thanks for your excellent explanation.

I love all the sci-fi easter eggs that can be found in the game. Two easy ones are: USS Enterprise(Star Trek) on the starship cards, and the Dalek(Doctor Who) on the first gameboard.

This was the most thorough and seemingly fair / transparent review I've seen of this after having looked at a number of videos and writeups of this game. I haven't played Welcome To (Perfect Home) yet, and from watching this, and as you mentioned at the end, I think I'll start with Perfect Home first. I really appreciate the thoughtfulness of that comment, given that as I was watching the maps, they seemed a step more challenging than Perfect Home and was looking for guidance of whether to get Home or Moon. Thank you!

Tho Im sure you'll probably be fine starting with this one first, but you may appreciate this and the base game more in that order :). I might be wrong of course. Thank you once again for a thorough overview video! As a fellow fan of Welcome to... I have been very interested in this one since it was announced. Thanks to your video I have a much better understanding of how it plays. I will mainly be playing it solo and am curious about the campaign for sure, however I greatly appreciate knowing how it compares to original game, and you made that crystal clear. I look forward to trying it out in person!

Yeah we love Welcome To so much, it's probably one of the games we can just straight into playing without having to refresh the rules, the original one that is :D. I am still waiting for this one to release. I have preordered it. The wife and I recently got Welcome To and have been enjoying it (along with all the expansions). Our kids also enjoy Welcome To... although this one may be a little complicated for our kids, especially with the rules being so different on each map, but I am sure the wife and I will enjoy this game very much!

Great review, really excited about this game. One note, Stella mentioned Between Two Castles (and was corrected to Between Two Cities), Between Two Castles of Mad King Ludwig is a fantastic game, especially if you like the Cities one!

The Colony was my favorite. For me the defining characteristic of base Welcome To was the stress that comes from the board getting more and more constrained. And getting screwed by your earlier choices 🙃. The Colony doubled down on that by giving you two dimensions to worry about, and I loved the brain-burning feeling of that. I actually enjoyed the Launch! It's a great introduction to the core concepts of the game, and after three plays, I feel like there's room for a few different strategies.

Hi Joe, thank you for sharing that. Yes always gets stuffed by earlier choice, makes you wanna try to do it again and hopefully better next time hehe. The launch, as long as we see it as a different game, then that's okay. The colony is so nice, smart and different yet punishing, great choice!

I completely agree with Tarrant on the first map. It was incredibly confusing as I was used to the Welcome to mechanics and this stripped a lot away and introduced rather abstract ideas where I had to check the rules a lot which made my experience suffer.

And after a second play I really love it. First plays can be rough for me sometimes! I can totally see the Ganz Schon Clever effect Stella. I feel that they have borrowed from a few robust systems to make this a better rounded experience 🤗

If you like that mechanics and want to take it even the next level, have a look at Hadrian's Wall (we have the how to play video for it) - that one we definitely did practice first play hehe

I wasn't enamored with Welcome To but this one looks like it will be much more interesting to me. 7-8 different sheets with different mechanics definitely peaks my interest. I'd like to play it but can't see it online anywhere. At least here in the states. I'm guessing it will take some time for this to be available.

I thought Adventure 1 was a good intro into the system for someone who hasn't played Welcome To. Relative to several roll and writes, it wasn't too simple and offered good choices. It did get a lot better though with the action abilities after.

I wanted to play this one this afternoon, but I couldn't understand which boxes you use.. or which cards are in which boxes. Very confusing and not explained in the rulebook. I don't want to have to Google where to find everything inside the box. This makes me want to sell it before even played it. Too bad...

Awww sorry to hear that Milou, There was a little bit of that when I first open and sorted out the game. Eventually I figured it out by reading throughout the instruction manual how to play.
