You don't believe in Venables, but he has the same amount of 10 win seasons as Sark, and it took him only 2 seasons to get there as opposed to Sark needing 10? Interesting....
@PurpleHazeVanNederlands4 ай бұрын
I do bring that up as a negative for Sark. I believe more in Venables than Sark.
@chrispreston784 ай бұрын
I think there are a few reasons for this, 1. Sark does have HC experience at two other big name programs, although not “great” records…still experience 2. Sark has been through his ups-and-down, but he has grown and is definitely, clearly a different, better man 3. Sark has coached in the SEC and knows what is needed to win 4. BV doesn’t have HC experience 5. the biggest difference to me, BV and Sark inherited completely different teams, specifically culture OK has handed down really good teams beginning with Stoops, where as UT had to flush out the trash from the two previous cultures

Sark’s first season at Texas also had one less win than Venables. Venables has a better record than Sark did after 2 years.

@chrispreston78 Venables wasn't handed down a good team(so we disagree on that), remember, When Lincoln left in the dead of the night half the team(the best players except for a handful)also left. Venables had to reevaluate what he had,go to the portal for a qb,and hire new coaches. In year two, he was able to put a 10 win season together(along with 3 consecutive top ten recruiting classes).

@@MrBowen-ei3uu I thought he had only lost a few and also had the culture in place with Stoops > Riley? Sark had to also revamp a culture that had been really torn down since Mack had left. Basically, OU had a strong team, brand and culture built by Stoops then sustained by Riley for many years after whereas UT was decimated by back-to-back really bad hires in the same time frame. so Sark had to rebuild, not only the team, but also the brand and culture.

The confidence from Texas is due to their cakewalk SEC schedule. Outside of Georgia, they miss all the heavyweights. Florida is a dumpster fire. Mississippi State isn’t on their level. Kentucky…decent, but not a contender. A&M has a new coach and a bunch of portal exits. OU plays Bama, Ole Miss, LSU, Tennessee, and Mizzou off one of its best seasons. That’s why OU fans are tempered in their expectations while Texas folks are confident. OU is the one playing all the hard teams…

@bigticket5755 no, the confidence comes from what has been built, where they finished, and what they return.

All rumors and hit articles aside, all you have to look at for OU is endowment and annual revenue, without SEC distribution we are top 8 annually, add the bump of SEC distribution OU will be top 4 annually.

Caleb Downs is a good run safety but his coverage leaves a lot to be desired, he reminds me of Landon Collins. Arnold/Kool-aid being such corners made up for that. He'll play in the NFL but idk about 1st.
