New subscriber here. Yes, more garage stuff 😊. I raced karts for 20+ years. Into race mowers now. 65 years old and still doing the race thing. Great video!

Everyone that commented on using grease. Grease slows the bearing down and collects more dirt and you want fast bearings. I was taught when you buy bearings to take them apart and remove all the grease and lube them with something like tri flo or zep 45 before installing them. I personally use zep 45 and it works great.

Thanks for sharing time in the shop with us. Maintenance is a very important part of any kind of racing. A lot of people that have never raced anything don't understand how much time you spend in the shop. Great video. Look forward to seeing you on the track!

I like the bearing oil that Phantom sells. Only takes a few drops and I think it lubes better than the tri-flow
@DegenerateGarage Жыл бұрын
Noted! I'll have to see if I can get my hands on some. I might have given the rear bearing a little too much of the tri-flow, I'll make a judgement after Raceday.

I wonder why they stopped putting spacers on? My old shadow had them and we were always adjusting them

These actually came with my 2012 Shadow.

Luke to see how everyone does there shit different. I remove all the grease from every bearing amd spray w/Triflow, less rotating friction. But to each their own..

What clutch springs are you on? We use all whites for low engagement but have to be replaced every couple race weekends but engagement is awesome for restarts
@DegenerateGarage Жыл бұрын
I'm actually using 4 whites with an additional 2 black springs across each other, creates a low stall.

Hi Nick Don't You Grease The Rear Axle Bearings ? I Know They Are Sealed, But You Can Take The Bearing Covers Out With A Fine Instrument & Pack The Bearings. I'm Pretty Sure You Can Anyway. Also When Cleaning Your Chain & Bearings _ A Tooth Brush Is Very Handy P.S I Like Watching Your Channel

I do not use grease, it collects dirt. Just a synthetic lube, Tri-flow. I actually did use the toothbrush! That might have not made the cut. And thanks for the support!

Never use grease that collects dirt.

I use a synthetic grease (similar to Vaseline) for the clutch roller bearing only. Very little.
