Good Luck with the Masso's lack of THC support and lack of Z axis control when cutting LoL
@fredsmachinewerks48114 жыл бұрын
I would order all the parts first and than start building the table. I myself if having to this over would gone this route. As there are some many option to consider. This make easyer down the road get all the ball screws or gear racks and linear builds. The extrude aluminium was a plus steel is ok but I found less work is nice mind you having to make all the bearing blocks And stepper motor mounts was a bit of a chore but it's all good. If you can make do it the rewards are awesome Cheers Fred

@@davidoleary2452 Masso has some serious shortcomings when it comes to THC, the only known working unit is the Proma. Masso states "that any THC system that uses ARC OK, UP and DOWN signals will work." Yet no one on the Masso site has been able to make the Price unit work. Masso also lacks real time axis control when the unit is cutting Up/Down/Speed override. The Price allows Up/Down over ride at the console, Proma which is mounted at the plasma box can be an issue on larger tables like mine. Speed override is necessary in CNC plasma as consumables wear and not all metal cuts the same. it also allows you to grab a file that was for a different thickness of material and adjust the speed accordingly. Saving a date with the CAM software. Feel free to pop over to the Masso forum and chime in on the THC issue, if we make enough noise they will fix the problem: www.masso.com.au/forums/topic/thcs-that-work-with-masso/

I would love a plasma table but sadly not enough room in the shop here. I am interested to see how the system comes together though, as you say there have been a few others who have built them at home and it seems like everyone has a slightly different angle on engineering theirs.

Hello Everett This going be very slow build. Getting the right parts is always hard. And then making parts to adapt the the table is always a little bit of work. But it's coming together. I looked at about 12 to 13 vendors for cnc plasma table They were up in the range of 6000.00 to 15000.00 so this kind of put a damper On things. So I started to research diy And parts. I think have about 4000.00 When its all said done. Few odds and ends. I think the cnc controller was most. Everything else was off of amazon and aliexpress. I'll get some updates done but busy at work. Cheers Fred

Everett, I have seen plaz tables that fold up against the wall for storage, Once you have one of these you will say why didn't I do this sooner. What use to take days to build is a 3 min cut.

@@fredsmachinewerks4811 I would be interested in seeing a new video with more detail on the relays and power supplies, and why and how this is needed with the Masso. I'm planning a retro fit on an old Burny 3 set-up and have to learn all this stuff.

Next week I'll explain how I use relays for the end switches. Its better than direct connect to masso .I like to keep peripherals separate . And use external power by using relay dont have to worry about anything shorting out. This will blow the opto in the masso. Cheers Fred
@fredsmachinewerks48114 жыл бұрын
So what do is I use a 3 wire proximity Switch. That energizes the terminal relay and close contacts which is turn energized the input on the masso. Masso uses opto isolators so between 24.volts dc to the input. If you an email address I can send you my drawing. Cheers Fred

The Price seems to be one of the better units, and it is the one I plan on using. But I was curious about a floating torch head. The torch is mounted on a spring loaded slide, touches the material, bumps a micro switch, and sets the pierce height then the THC takes over.

@@johnrichardson9234 So did I as well as many others, now were trying to find a THC system that works with Masso. The Proma unit is the only unit that is known / documented to work with the Masso controller (that I can find) and it has it's limits / design flaws. I love the rest of the features Masso offers and we're trying to work out the THC problems. Pele's build is on my channel.
