As a fellow curly grey haired soul (47 and 17 months in to the transition and 1-2 haircuts away from having the remaining 2 inches of brown ends gone), everything in this video resonated! It was really comforting to hear your responses and learn more about your reasoning and process. There are still days when people say I look older or I sense a wavering slightly inside myself. So this was so helpful.

Honestly Renee, you are blessed even when it comes to your hair. For one, your hair is naturally curly, which I think is beautiful. Secondly, the *way* that your hair went grey is cool and really adds too your natural beauty. It looks like you want to the salon and deliberately got your hair multicolored. The "skunk line" that you refer to is actually something that I always admired, even when I was in middle school. Maybe I'm just weird (okay, I am lol) but I think that your hair is stunning - I absolutely love it.

Your hair is gorgeous. Somebody along the way decided women in their 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s and beyond needed to NOT be gray - which is nature's way of softening us as we age. That somebody was NOT a woman, guaranteed. Your channel helped me through my transition, and I have never looked back. I love my gray, silver, grombre - whatever we choose to call it. My last dye was March 2020 - I know, sound familiar? - and I have cut 15" off over this past year and a half. I have a few little pieces left from highlights, and that's it!

I think your hair is gorgeous! I was thinking about going grey when I came across your channel a few months back. I'm now 6 months in to my transition, and sometimes the weird looks from people bother me, but overall I am so much happier not putting chemicals on my hair every 6 to 8 weeks. I've started changing my opinion about aging, and it's a much healthier appreciation of aging.

Yes, when I started accepting that I wasn't 30 any longer and started to embrace my age, I quit coloring my hair and it's such a difference! No more chemicals, no more itchy, burning scalp, no more $350 hair appointments! At 65, I've learned that I've earned every wrinkle and gray hair and I'm not about the hide them and try to be something I'm not. I'm a 65 year old woman and like to think I'm still pretty cool--gray hair, wrinkles, an all.

Thank you Renee! I fully transitioned this year but I have a lot less white than you do.. mostly dark ash brown. A patch of white on the very top. So I am growing the top to reach the rest of my hair and I so wish I had more white around my face. Since I'm 72 and my Mom died at 93 with mostly brown hair, I suspect it won't change a lot. But I can always hope! I am also letting my curls be natural and I am happy with that - love yours!

Your journey exactly mirrors my own. I am 59, Greek decent, with curly hair and stopped coloring at the end of my 40’s. My coloring jobs would not last a week before I had a ring of gray hair around my face. One tip, I used the demi permanent color or light colored foils the first 6 months and it helped tremendously with the grow out. I would do it myself, shampoo it in and then it would gradually fade out and there would be more gray each time. No one really noticed my transition. Now everyone asks how I did it and how great it looks.

He is still in my prayers!🙏💓I went through that with my hubby 11yrs. ago and he had to have 2 stents put in! He was on his way home from work and he started having pain in his chest and down his left arm! It so happened he was on the highway by the hospital and he wheeled in to emergency room and told the doctor he was having a heart attack! They went through his groin right then & inserted 2 stents! You are definitely a winter season color palette! You go girl! Of course you haven’t aged due mainly to your season! You look fantastic! You can wear all the bright winter colors. Bright red, blue, black and white are great on you, hot pink. No yellows or orange unless they have a blue tone in them. Now me? I’m a spring season! I have very curly hair and my hair color was always a darker strawberry blonde! I’m also going grey, but due to my season, I will probably be buried with permanent hair color! A spring season can wear all the bright weirdest colors there are, plus white is not a color I can comfortably wear due to my skin color, which is of Scottish Irish descent. My hair is a lot thinner than it used to be, but I have a lot of it. If I pull on my curls, it would be at my waist.

You have to please yourself--and if you displease others around you and they aren't supportive of you, they don't need to have a place in your life. It's so easy for me to say that--my husband supported my transition and my doing "the big chop". But I really think it's true. If you're always living up to (or TRYING to live up to) what someone else thinks you should be, you're never going to be happy.

Thanks for the great video!! I decided to embrace my gray hair about 13 months ago. The pandemic was my main reason for not dying my hair. Once I stopped I found your channel and it has saved my sanity. I have extremely curly hair and it’s about to my waist. I refuse to do the big chop. About 10 months ago Due to stress my hair started falling out. I lost about 40% of the hair on the top of my head to the crown. Growing that out was quite painful. It’s still a process. I love your hair and hope mine turns out as beautifully as yours. Thanks again for taking the time to answer these questions and educate us. I hope you have a fabulous day!!! 😊💚😊💚

You look great in your grey hair Renee. I only started colouring my hair last year. My Mom had little grey hair into her 80’s…& only had a little grey around the sides of her face. So, I guess I’m lucky I don’t have much. I colour my hair every 7-8 weeks. & I’m turning 60 in November, so I’m not quite ready to stop colouring my hair just yet…maybe one day. It’s all a personal choice anyways. Whatever floats your boat. Whatever makes you happy…is the main issue. 👍😊👏

You have great hair -- love the curl! I have naturally fine light blonde hair that has a little wave. If I let it go, I'd be all white not a pretty grey like you. The color adds thickness which I need. Not everyone has great hair to start with to make the transition. Congrats to you -- I think you look great. The makeup colors are perfect! As we age, we need more color to brighten our face. Nice video, girl. Hope Randy is recovering well. Healing hugs to him!

Renee, you look awesome and that's because you have embraced the grey and own it. After about 11 months of not colouring my hair became white completely and it looked good. Then at the end of July I was travelling to Iceland and coloured it again; now I regret having done it. You are absolutely right, my scalp had become healthy during the 11 month period and when I coloured it again, my scalp became itchy, that's due to all the ammonia & other chemicals in it ... it burns the scalp. I think I am ready to let my hair go white for good. Thank you again for the inspiration.

Hi there, I agree totally with you in everything you say. I have also gone completely grey. And it’s amazing how many compliments I get wherever I go. Ladies stop me all the time and ask me if my hair is naturally grey or did I have it colored like that. Or they stop to tell me how much they like it. I guess I’m lucky because it looks more like silver hair and I love it. But I couldn’t handle going through the process of growing it out, so I had it stripped twice and it was a very light blonde, in which case it blended with my grey hair as it was growing out. I used a toner as I was going through the process, and also used purple shampoo and conditioner, and now I put in a pink or purple semi permanent color, which is fun. I’m so happy with it and I t’s very trendy these days, even the younger women are coloring their hair grey or white, and that also encouraged me to do it.

Your hair…no wait it’s your attitude…no wait…it’s both…are awesome! I went gray almost 4 years ago to a lot of mixed opinions, but the two I sought most were my daughter’s and my husband’s, and they both cheered me on. Actually, I became allergic to the dye and after many costly trips to the derm, gave up the coloring. My hair was colored blond and it’s honestly easier to transition when the hair is that color. I had low lights put in and that helped, too. I would like to “ditto” everything you said. Right now, I am dye-free and curly and satisfied. Hope all is well with your hubby.

Thanks for sharing all the good tips about clothes and makeup and I always get stuck Wei g black and grey and it's hard to wear white but I do love wearing it when I can find the right item of clothing in white. I, for one, think you look better with gray hair! I've seen some old videos and think you look much better since you let your hair go gray. I won't suggest you go back! I transitioned to gray, as well (and do not for one minute regret it). I didn't let mine grow out--I chopped. It took only a month to have all the color gone. But my hair was really sort for about 3 months. That was the right decision for me, but it's not for everybody. But I love your natural gray color and think it looks great on you.

My hair has gone from wavy to….curls of various tightness that go off in different directions, sticking straight out around the ears…and is totally unruly…with the section in the back falling down from the crown being almost stick straight and flat. Then…the final few inches in the rear are very curly. All totally unmanageable to the Nth degree. Then, the colics…front and back…are just a bit of an added punch of contrariness. You have beautiful hair.

I think you look beautiful! I'm thinking of going gray! I just turned 60, and I'm tired of spending too many hours on my hair. I also have naturally curly hair.

At some point I had an epiphany on what to do for my my skunk line. I bought the temporary or 12 week color over the counter and dyed a few gray strands at the skunk line. The goal was to soften the skunk line having the dark hair blend in to the gray with strips of the dark here and there. Since ombré effects were in people thought I had it professionally done. It really worked for me.

Renee, thanks, for another great video. You look fabulous, truly you do. I’m 60, and when that grey, comes in, I panic. Last time, I had my hair colored, the color faded…sooo I don’t know…I’m getting closer, to embracing, it all…Thanks again…☕️🥯🥳♥️😎❣️

I agree with Renee. You do get over it and I'm also with Renee--I don't regret transitioning whatsoever. I will never go back to coloring my hair. It's so wonderful not to have to do it! And I get so many compliments on my hair--many more than I used to when I colored it. When I decided to transition, I comforted myself with the thought that I could always go back to coloring it if I didn't like it. Now I love it and won't ever go back!

Love your grey hair. I am turning 57 this November but my hair is still mostly black. I used to have my hair colored to lighter color in order to improve my complexion. However, since I got cancer 9 years ago, I stopped those using chemicals on my hair. I did have some white hair but not much and I took them out. With your video about grey hair, I shall also embrace my grey and white hair whenever they come. Thanks for sharing.

I've been really lucky. I'm 57 years old; and I'm just now getting to a point where I'm trying to decide if I should color my hair. Up until now, I've had few enough grays I could just pluck them. I stopped plucking sometime last year; and I'm seeing more and more gray coming in. My hair is approaching I'm guessing about 10 % gray; since my natural highlights have dimmed, I probably don't really have anything to lose should I decide to color. YOUR gray hair is beautiful though; and, to me, it doesn't make you look your age!

I used to wear yellow red black white and tan. Now with my silver and dark hair I look best in pastels but white is still good. Tan and beige are not flattering. Pink, aqua and pale yellow are great as well as grey. I love grey.

Do not know why I got this channel in my feed but I have been enjoying it and also love your dogs 🐕. I am a mixie from Belgium/Europe but I don’t have curls 😒! Your hair is beautiful ! You really sound so Southern. It sounds different from my New Yorken cousin.

Hi! Your curls and Grey hair are beautiful. I am 44 yrs old and still no white hairs at all but I fear when they come, they will come fast & furious. My Dad grayed in his late 40s and my Mon in her early 40s. She hated that. 😂 I am terrified of greying since I do not use hair products at all. Maybe a hair serum a handful of times per year. I enjoy Amazons mulberry silk pillow cases too, they pull less hair out than my cotton pillow cases.

I was 16 when I found my first gray hair. Actually, a friend of mine was sitting behind me in English class. Over the years I would find a few from time to time. I was probably 40 when I first started covering mine. I’m 64 and still coloring mine. I admire those who can go gray. My Mom had beautiful gray hair. I have more gray hair than my mother-in-law who is in her 80’s. I have to touch up my roots every three weeks.

Watching this at 43 will be 44 in 5 months, hair is curly naturally, and my hair has been getting tinsel strands throughout. I haven't dyed my hair in 23 years. I have a few friends asking me to color it. I dont want the upkeep, and i know my husband will want me to keep it dark brown. Im going through products because my hair is getting a bit wild, and some of the grey/silver strands are corse and a bit straighter.

Everything you said in your video could have been my experience. Including the itching and burning from the hair dyes. I went gray alongside you and I have never look back. I love my silver hair. And I now use joico and I love it.

How many times do you wash your hair in a week? What do you do to maintain your curls between washes? Do you go to bed with a head wrap?
