Any of those MUST be spaced off the run pipe to prevent stress in the weld. I like thin cardboard for the tacks then burn it out with the torch or use a wire wheel on it. Old welding inspector here.
@TheWeldProfessor2 жыл бұрын
Yeah you gonna need a full penetrated weld there also

Very interesting, never seen coupling's like those before but then I don't weld pipe. It is always good to see stuff like this because you never know when it might come in useful. It is obvious to see though, a lot of work involved getting them set right and then fully welded in. Top stuff young man!
@TheWeldProfessor2 жыл бұрын
A coupling actually has threads on both sides in welded a lot of them into pipe I shoulda just grabbed one to show even tho I’m not using it
@JonDingle2 жыл бұрын
@@TheWeldProfessor To be fair, coupling is probably not the correct word to have used when I left my comment. Connection or joint are more appropriate. Thanks for replying young man!

The sock o let can crack if there is no room for expansion from temp .examples hight pressure steam,. This is what I have bin told by engineering
@TheWeldProfessor2 жыл бұрын
Also what I was aware of too
@rgantz79602 жыл бұрын
Some codes will call for 1/16 "after weld" for gap. just for expansion, whether for thermal or pressure related
