Another great watch before my 12 hours shift on site today! Can’t wait to see how your apprentice develops 👌 I done exactly the same after finishing school, straight into an apprenticeship best thing I’ve ever done! Big respect for you taking him on and doing your bit to help keep the trade alive and thriving 🤝
@XLbullyZeus6 ай бұрын
You know what I like about the apprentice, as soon as you finished talking to him and you walked off the first thing he did was put his safety glasses on. Now I work in a different industry and I’m constantly telling the lads to put there glasses on, but he put them straight on without questions. Now that’s a sign of a good respectful apprentice attitude. I love how far you’ve become and seeing a workshop with a full crew is amazing regardless if half blokes are yours and other your brothers. Well done Baz. I’d love to work with you as a steel erector. Keep it up pal x

Leaving school and starting work right away is the best way. Got a 15 year old do the same. finished school this week in Scotland. Shes 16 in a few weeks but thankfully found a place willing to take her on a few weeks early and put her through her apprentice. Note to school leavers. Don't be shy. Ask if people will take you on at 15. A willingness to learn and work really does well for your chances.

Your little fork truck is certainly earning its keep, best gift ever! Great stuff with taking on an apprentice, the lad is going to learn lots from Cal and yourself 👍. Speaking of Cal, he definitely looks like he made the correct decision in going with you into the new venture - he’s as happy as a sand boy there 😀. Best wishes and hopefully a speedy recovery to your pal, life is indeed too short as you say.

Workshop looking very busy. Just a small advice-can see a lot of fumes building up in timelapse, might be worth installing a fan in top of rhat back wall for some air movement. Not bad for welders with filtered air fed masks, but might affect others in building. I’ve had an itchy throat once or twice over the years because never had an air fed mask and retired now at 40 due to disability. Pushing my son in that direction and he just got a contract for his apprenticeship with Mansfield Pollard. Agree with you that more youngsters need to get in to welding game because that trade will always be needed. Keep up the good work lads.

Looks like you'll fast outgrow that building. Fabricators who do quality work when they say they'll do it is as rare as hen's teeth, so this venture is sure to be a success. Honestly, Baz needs to think bigger than just working for hourly wages. Needs to sell and develop equipment so he can have a constant stream of work/income and not constantly hustling for work. Callum needs to be more involved in sales/pricing so he can step in whenever Baz is busy, but that will come soon enough.
@glenmartin27076 ай бұрын
Another great video Baz and how long will it be before you need even more space mate 👍 Your dead right about the youngsters mate, lads who've grew up on farms or messing with cars and trucks from a young age are always way ahead when it comes to apprentices, that and interest in what their doing, motivation and a desire to learn 👌🙂

Your friend Howard Scott has 2 extras, 1 on the Croucher (that mag belt) & 2 on the tracks of those machines (that are for sale) there are some sort of guard on the tracks - both ends. I take it that ,that is for a reason possibly to prevent excess dirt sticking to the tracks. what would you say they are for? He wouldn't have put them on there if there was no advantage.
