Welding (or any other type of craft) can really feel like a superpower. For example: I found a great top for a desk, but it needed a frame. So I made one!

Pretty neat. Maybewirebrush the welds to bring them to shine ^^ It might also protect them from rusting, welded stainless steel might get rusty in such corners.

Sounds like a great project for welding practice and it turned out really well(d). If you forget to remove the thickness of the stock from your material you could always mitre the corners, it's something I've done 'intentionally' many times!

Great project! My first welding project was similar, a work bench. I got some "help" from a friend who could weld and she convinced me to go with mitered joints instead of butt joints. Very fancy. It also threw off my measurements so when I put a sheet of plywood on the top it was too short. I decided to call it extra clamping surfaces.
