Here is the video of welding on a split tee on a live line. I just wanted to show you guys what it's like out here in the feild. You will all be here some day so why not let me educate you on how I DO IT. Everyone is different. And again and again you will hear me say I am not the best welder. But I love to weld. I strive for perfection every day. Somedays are better then others but I do have my days too that are better then others. We are only human. I really hope you are enjoying the channel and sharing it with your friends. I got alot in store that I am working on so please bare with me. In time I am going to upload all you will need. From tools I make to welds I make. I can mig tig and stick and almost anything in them process. My main focus in life with welding is pipe. I can do structure I just prefer pipe welding. I'm not here to hurt people's feelings so if you take offense that's on you. I call it how I see it and I won't sugar coat it. I'm a grown man and not a child. So dont think I won't block you for being stupid. I have no time for rude people or straight idiots. This is a educational channel for teaching the world all I know. Again I dont know it all. I am constantly evolving and learning the skilled craft. You love it share it. You dont well that's on you. Stay cool my people and feel free to leave it in the comment below. God bless you.

People watch this video and think this is easy I'm a 40 year welding veteran retired I know exactly how hard it is. Welding on prototype oil Derricks, silicone reactors and even got my feet wet in nuclear pressure vessels. The welders of this nation built this country literally. It's good to see there's some things you just can't teach a robot. This type of work is no different than any other you have to love it to do it well and find joy in a job well done. It was definitely a love-hate relationship more hate Than Love LOL but your video reminded me of how much I don't miss the struggles but would do it again for the fellowship of my coworkers and their stories of Triumph over the Quest for Fire.

Wally I am closing in on 40 years of welding I spent my time welding pipe not my favorite line of work but it was a great learning experience the one thing that was taught to me way back when was that to make a good weld you needed to be comfortable and as you know you cannot always be in a comfortable position sometimes your surroundings make it impossible keep up the good work looking forward to seeing more

As a old retired guy that welded for a few years as a pipe fitter back in the late 1960’s. Most of my experience was with steam piping. We used a lot of E6011 low pressure. I did a lot of tank farm work getting them ready for new kind of gas. These were Shell farms and pumping stations. All I knew was that it was called Shell of the Future on the drawings. Most were in evacuated lines. We had to weld uphill on everything a lot of flanges as many valves had to be upgraded. Then vapor recovery came right after the “gas of the future”. Funny all the pipe line guys welded down hill we couldn’t hire them. I’m looking at a scar on my ankle from a hunk of that ugly 7018 slag that somehow went down my boot (no spats) 70 years old and that still gives me the chills today as I think about. Didn’t hurt long but it did hurt like heck for a bit. I was a kid and the Forman my helper were laughing like hell as I started jumping around. Just had to pull that hunk of slag out it was deep because my boot pushed it into my inside left ankle 50 years later still have that scar. Anyway great video. Never used a split tee very nice item. Start cutting a tee in on a hot day those lines would get hot in the sun and grow so much the tee wouldn’t fit your cut out. Hose the line down with a fire hose so you could fit it up. Sorry so long I’m old.

I'm interested in knowing more about that rudimentary welding helmet which I ever only see pipe welders use. The only advantage I can see to such style of helmet would be airflow because anyone who's worn a 'traditional' welding helmet for any longer amount of time will tell you it gets hot and lunch-breathy in there.

I was always told that the reason those “pancake” style weld hoods are popular with pipeliners is because it sits tight against your face and keeps the sun from reflecting off your lens. It’s also great for not getting arc flashed when you’ve got three guys burning away in a trench.

Not a welder here - So if you need a backing strip to be safe about blowing thru the pipe to join the two halves, how can you go after the ends so aggressively and not have problems? Great looking work btw. You sure can see the pitting in the pipe on some of those close ups. Thx!
