Welding Cast Boat Exhaust Manifold Crack

Thanks I have several videos on cast , the thin cast like this manifold can be very difficult, some times not possible as the stress from the weld cooling cracks it again.

Try torch welding with cast iron bare rod and flux. Best repair hands down,and it can be machined down to bare metal. More expensive process but anything would really do the trick as long as the piece don't crack too soon. Best method is known as thermal spray torch process. Spray the casting with molten powder nside a furnace to build it back up to the surface. Same procedure preheat and post heat. 7018 is probe to cracking, really any mild steel rod for that matter to cast. Nickels better but more expensive. I like the gas welding old school method bare iron rod and flux.

Best to not use E7018 on cast iron. For Tig Silicon Bronze on DC Negative or Aluminum bronze to fix cast on AC. E7018 will crack eventually. If you don't have a tig set up you can get Nirode for stick welding.

so how do you know in this situation that the insides aren't compromised ? what if it leaks inside the exhaust ports
