No matter how good the weld this, always clean your plate guys, because slag likes to hide in tight spaces.

Learned this the hard way lol it will definitely make you fail a test if your lazy and don’t get that hidden slag out
@scottperkins52323 жыл бұрын
I find the fact that his plate isn't vertical in 0 degrees vertical, kinda cheating. But what do I know... this guy won't show his welds and brags his welds are the best.
@haileer.8533 жыл бұрын
You need to show your welds, how are people suppose to learn without seeing your beads after you clean them. At least for me it helps to the the damn weld. Man you must not be confident about your welds
@erickwardwell9623 жыл бұрын
I'm starting to think the same way with him. Won't show his weld. He welded over slag at 7:04. And his bead layout is wrong, your supposed to keep it half way even. Starting to lose trust in TWS a little. Still like the old guys though, they know how to weld.
@edgar.em11683 жыл бұрын
@@erickwardwell962 not to mention the undercut he had, also his beads were ropy which is why I think he didn’t show them as much. And he didn’t let his piece cool off a bit before his cap weld. Should of done the bend test to see if he did pass haha

Need to over lap more those beads remember 50 50 each bead.

How come we don't see the welding beads after each pass???
@tylernichols31873 жыл бұрын
I thought about that too. Then I saw him bring out the grinder and it made me chuckle at his comment about not needing a chipping hammer when you have good welds.
@f.e.oeeorch5813 жыл бұрын
@@tylernichols3187 it’s a wire wheel it helps get any slag that gets trapped in any tiny pockets so there isn’t any slag inclusions also the hot pass welds appearance doesn’t really matter since it’s going to be covered anyway his welds looked like the got pretty good fusion

Would had love to seen that root pass but I guess not.

I thought he said he was going to bend it I don't think it would have passed, The only time I seen him clean his restarts was on his cap. Guarantee there was slag entrapment on his second and third passes. We're not allowed to have any tilt angle when doing a 3G he had around 20° degrees. And It looks like 3/8 plate we have to take 1-in plate with a 22-degree bevel. Talking about 8-hour welding certification no grinder just a chipping hammer and a wire brush
@erickwardwell9623 жыл бұрын
No shit man, thinking the same thing. Starting to lose faith in TWS a little.
@dementedpaintballer2 жыл бұрын
@@erickwardwell962 Most of their graduates cannot pass a 3G test in the real world. No faith should be in this school at all. I've just recently seen 2 walk off the job. Anything involving having to go up just leads to massive drippage and piping porosity city from welding over all the trapped slag.

7:04. When is it EVER appropriate to weld over slag??????

Chipping hammers work great!

The video was good I could see the puddle but after every pass or weld you should showed the plate so we could actually see the result it would give a better understanding, the video was good but it was not sweet enough in my opinion

Bro your plate isn't 90° its leaned back a bit thats cheating big time

Obviously the plate is not 90 degrees….. that’s a cheating position but it’s help to make more easy the vertical also 7018 1/8 that’s super easy try 5/32…..
