Welding new Grousers on Cat D6C

I am welding with a Lincoln SA200. Using 7018 rod. I am not a professional. I do alot of things incorrectly but thought I would share.

Getting ready to do this on my Case 450. I'm gonna use 3/4 or 1 inch cold rolled round bar stock though. Probably 1 inch. Legit grouser bar would be way too expensive for me. Your welds look good though and you made the right call using 7018. That's what I'll be running. Man I'm gonna go through some rod! I have no idea how much. Maybe 75 pounds. I use a Miller Trailblazer. It's a good machine for what I do because It's got a great arc but has lots of generator power for me to run air compressors and plasma cutters. Plus it runs my house when our power gets knocked out. LOL. I've never ran an SA200 but I hear the DC arc is a dream.

What grade steel are grouser bars made from

Grouser ends are rounded to aid turning.

What grade of steel are you using or did you get them from a dealer??
