Just when I thought I learned my lesson I went and did it again. I grabbed the same lipo that I used earlier and basically put a lipo with only %40 in a plane and took off! I was talking to other members and was not being careful. But the X-Fly tasman was unaffected until I just had no juice left to taxi back. I realized what I had done after the plane was on the ground. I really hope I learn my lesson THIS time!.
Thanks for watching and staying up to date with Fat Guy Flies RC!

Well not paying attention and grabbed a used lipo and drained it to 0%! Not smart!

I have done this several times, you are not alone! The key I have found is to not wait get the battery on a charger right away. Honestly the best charger I found for problems like this are those blue imax chargers, they will let the charge cycle start initially where others won't sometimes! These chargers are 20$ at aliexpress! I'm glad that you guys are posting these honest reviews! keep up the good work! I just ordered this plane as well, can't wait to get it!

The good thing is that the plane was on the ground. I had a spektrum 2200 go bad on me last year. Nice airplane nice flying!

With a tail dragged landing on the mains and not touching the tail wheel is called a wheel landing.

Easy to jump start batteries when they get too low. As long as they aren't damaged or swollen they are not likely junk. Charge on low current as a NiMH for a few minutes just to get voltage high enough to charge as a LiPo is one option. I normally just hook up to my current limited bench power supply and get it up to about 3.2-3.5V per cell at

A fellow club member immediately took the lipo and put her on a slow trickle charge. I think the battery will be fine.

hi bro. my tasman arrived today.. I was just looking for setup help. I'm using a tx16s and lemon rx10.. also you can save your batts when they go too low. give it a 1 min charge on nimh or nicd or even pb.. at 1 amp keep an eye on it. should put the cells back up high enough to do a proper balance charge bro. God bless you

Thanks for this. Careful with the Tasman wheels, put a little spit or food grade lube on the valve and don't force the needle, they bust fairly easy.

@FatGuyFliesRC yeah mine are pretty flat out the box but will leave it.. and yeah it's just like pumping a football. always spit on the needle. I'm guessing they will inflate a little when out in the sun. thanks for your replies..nice to have a youtuber reply. God bless you slim guy flies rc

I am curious how you rate this plane against others in this size category, like the Timber and Tundra. It is a good looking plane and looks like a very smooth finish. Sorry you killed your battery.
@FatGuyFliesRC
@FatGuyFliesRC Жыл бұрын
If I could only choose between this bird, the Tundra or the Timber I would take the Timber first , then the Tasman and the Tundra last then shoot the guy who said i can only have one.lol The Tasman and the Eflite Timber have equal quality and both have great performance but with the Timber you get a great receiver and more lights. With the Tasman it is a little cheaper and you supply your own rx.

I’ve had a couple batteries come in below 3.0/cell and babying them, they recovered. It’s not something to abuse but it happens - and it doen’t always mean the end. Just use caution! (Or send them to me)

Wait a minute; ain't those brushless speed controls have low voltage cutoff to prevent the battery from draining below minimums? And if is so; how in the world did you killed that lipo?

it does but I landed her right before the LVC then tried to throttle her again. when I saw that i had very little power i stopped and discovered my mistake.

Hey Fat guy like your videos. I have the same Tasman and I wonder how you pump air into the tires is there a special pump? The air pressure in my tires are not even and one seem too flat. Keep the videos coming!

I use a cheap bicycle pump from walmart.

I put the adaptor into the tire and just blow in to them to pump them up, that way you won’t over pressure them

You got the bird safely on the ground and that is a good thing. That is a low cell voltage but perhaps it will recover some and allow you to rescue the battery with a low amp balance charge.

@@FatGuyFliesRC That's good to hear! Those 4 and 6 cell batteries start to get pretty expensive. (Another reason I like the smaller, 3 cell, model planes. 😊)

Seems i can throw in about any size battery just about anywhere in a high wing plane and its still totally flyable so on high wingers i dont even bother doing a CG check anymore....Now Warbirds or samller edf jets you better damn well get your CG correct

A timer can be a bit misleading. If I fly a model of that size around the field in that fashion, my OSD amp draw will fluctuate wildly between 0.5 and 35 amps. If all you count is time, you could fool yourself badly unless your flight profile is absolutely identical each time. Telemetry could be a better idea here. To me, using a timer would feel much like hanging a calendar on my dashboard instead of installing a fuel gauge ...
@FatGuyFliesRC
@FatGuyFliesRC Жыл бұрын
Well that is true , but for me I keep my flight way below what a FULL battery can deliver often I come back at 40 to 50 % on the back. However that is not going to work If I grab a used battery and don't pay attention. This would have been another example where telemetry would also had helped. My issue is i narrate the video as I fly and often do not hear any warnings anyhow.
@Videolinquency

@@FatGuyFliesRC Understandable. A few years ago, we used to have tiny voltage warning screamers attached to our balance leads. Maybe those are still available. Happy landings!
