nah i think the seasons update is just speculation. it would be a pretty big overhaul technologically speaking and i think it might mess up worlds when updating, which they don't want. there's also a lot of edge cases they need to consider like, "what if there is a chunk that was last loaded in mid-winter but now it's late summer?" that chunk would have snow in it even though it's summer i think it's gonna be more similar to the cherry blossoms update, with some other features, but that's not to say a seasons update wouldn't be fun prove me wrong mojang

Mind you, something that stuck to me (and why I think they didn't truly made the pale garden foggy.. Even when they clearly showed images of it) is how they specifically worked on the transition of ambiance, and shades,meaning at base, it can be a shade or hue. Bedrock already has plant foliage being coloured, and Minecraft in general already has a 'temperature' of spawn distribution, so if such were to be true, it might just require to do so via pre existing basis!

Seasons would be a radical change (no pun intended). It's possible though - if gametime is stored within level.dat, chunks information can reload if necessary. They just need to control which elements respond to seasonal changes.

It's pretty clear that we'll get an update in the spring, but trying to find meaning in the emoji's is difficult the first flower is a rose, the second is a cherry blossom, a bright sun and then a calendar If it was seasons, then they would have likely included more than just the sun but it's certainly a plausible option 'Flower, Blossom, Day, Time' Maybe they are going to revamp flowers and make them open and close on a time scale? it's not quite seasons but I imagine it would run based off the number of days that have past, making different flowers blossom at varying stages

You have to remember that this could also be a small drop like bundles of bravery so it literally could be that they make flowers more dynamic (Like the new ones in pale garden) and possibly add one more flower type. Depending on if and how they would implement seasons, it would set a big precedent against Jeb's vision of "Any changes to the world should be made by the player". Though they could go the route of adding mechanisms for mitigation against each season's cons, kind of like how they handled the random lightning strike on your wood house problem. They added the lightning rod for mitigation. I would like to think that the most recent changes to uphold Jeb's vision on the world has been a test to see how players react to mitigation rather than removal/not adding.

Ive been wanting a seasons update. Ive always loved the realismcraft mods update to birch leaves that make them look like autumn leaves. I hope they do something like that. Spring brings a lot of deep and vibrant colors as well as flowering leaves and such. Crops grow faster and saplings. Summer- sun is brighter and illuminates the world more- days are longer- less rain- deserts are hazy to walk through from the heat. Fall- leaves turn red orange yellow and brown colors depending on leaf type and biome. Leaves fall off of all trees and maybe even have drops from breaking leaves increase. Maybe even have leaf piles and such. Winter- snows in most biomes instead of raining- trees grow barren or have some leaves fall off (and regenerate in spring) or just look pretty dead and thin. Water placed up a certain height will freeze unlike other seasons. Deserts will rain during winter more and savannahs will rain more as well with some snow sometimes. Its be very complex but id absolutely love it if they did some variation of this. I think it would make the world much more beautiful. If they just add some more flowers and just a couple extra blocks and thats it i might be disappointed- depending on what it is.

Honestly, I’m hoping for a farming update, if not this update than the next one. glad to be part of the *_SEASONS_* kind of people i don't think it can be anything besides seasons, unlike other games like don't starve, i think the seasons will be mainly cosmetic, the only gameplay changes i can see it having is snow and ice during winter in most biomes, and maybe crops having their own seasons. Might also be a cool opportunity to add more weather effects such as sandstorms in deserts and blizzards in snow biomes, i think the nether could also get its own weathers as well, like a soulstorm and vog.

I think it would be a really cool update if there was a new biome that had seasons, not the whole world, it would be a little awkward but there's more things that could be changed to make getting specific items from each season easier.

I read the emoji's as "a closed flower opens up with both sun and the right calender" So while it might not fit as a full major season update, season-like features could very well be the possibility Certain blocks/flowers that change and update with various conditions (already tested out with the eyeblossom) could mean that while full on seasons isn't gonna be a thing, *player made* seasons could very much be the next drop.

If, against all odds, the next update *is* seasons, that could be a good opportunity for Mojang to add "snowlogged" foliage to Java edition. Like how in Bedrock, snow layers fall, leaves turn white, and snow can share the same spot as grass.

Let's see. Tulip, Cherry Blossom(?), Sun, Calender Calenders can be used to schedule events- keep track of things and all Maybe there could be a new overworld event triggered by flowers? My first thought was something like the Twilight Dimension mod, though I doubt it'd be another dimension. It could just be flowers used for something. Maybe we get ingame flowercrowns for some reason- Maybe the Sniffer gets more flowers- Hell, maybe it could also be the Moobloom coming back (and other mobs) Could also have effects on the Flower Forest (which has a lot of different flowers) or an addition to the Cherry Biome.. which wouldn't be terrible but we just got it recently so it'd feel weird. Or it's just a gardening update and we get a hose to spray Blazes with who knows at this point

If it is seasons, I have a hard time thinking it'd be super mechanically interesting. Vintage Story seasons, in comparison, actually bring some challenge. Because food goes bad, and you need warm clothing to survive the cold, you actually need to make sure you prepare for winter. Not saying a seasons update to Minecraft wouldn't be cool, but I am afraid it might not be extremely interesting.

One of the flowers is closed one is open. Clear similarity with eye blossoms. Sun and calensar could represent time of day which is what the state of eye blossoms depend on. So maybe something more to do with the pale garden and especially the eye blossom Edit: As an addition the eye blossom seems slightly out of place, it has a few of its own cool mechanics but at least i feel like it isn't tied to anything that well

i think the best exemple of seasons we can get in minecraft, are in the Better than adventure modpack, but i would think that something like in minecraft right now would lead to world corruption.

i think its a season thingy but not overhauling something, instead it can be flower - certain plant will only grow in = either spring which is the pink flower emoji, or summer which is the sun emoji, and the calendar basically just confirms its a certain time of year thing which will maybe prove what i said

Seasons would be an interesting addition and would allow for future updates to play off of. Do different hostile mobs spawn during different seasons (other than mob variants)? Do certain crops fare better? How will the biomes be affected? Will the snow lines change? Snow and desert biomes become inhospitable in their respective seasons?

The two flowers could each represent spring and fall, where the open flower represents fall cause many bloom then (based off a quick google search which i may be incorrect). The sun represents summer. Finally the calendar represents winter, cause that's the season associated with December, which is now Could honestly just be 'seasonal' content like a smattering of items for each season or actual seasons

If they do decide to add things that change Seasonally in Minecraft, I'm really curious on how they will do the chunk-loading for it. A big gripe I have with mods that try to add seasons is that they kind of fall apart if you aren't keeping all of your chunks loaded 24/7. Say you got an outpost base that you last visited in the Winter, and you don't go back to it until it's Summer. Surprise, there's still snow on the ground everywhere. It'll melt over time, but since the chunk wasn't loaded while you were gone, the random tick system can't update the blocks until a player shows up. It's why floating sand and gravel blocks exist. Mojang decided that force-updating every block in a chunk upon loading was too processing-intensive, so they relied on the random tick system and player interactions to much more gradually update the chunks. But it doesn't work with changes as big as the seasons.

i feel like 🌸☀️❄️ would be clearer or something or at least 🌸🌻 suggests more cuz those two flower types are very spring like, a tulip and a cherry blossom. like idk we do want particle effects and you can get more of them with pollen in spring and pretty light but frequent showers, and leaves falling in autumn.
