Sometimes in developing countries you just have to take the initiative and get things done. Find someone to fix the locks and let the landlord know. Give your family who serves a heads-up about whats happening. They will know how to deal with it. These individuals need to know that you are not alone.

After you move in don't rely on the homeowners to fix whatever you need for your own security. Make sure you demand such before you give them money. Sorry, but the place you acquired for rental is terrible. My advice is to break your lease and move on. Liberia is safe but you don't want all the stress that comes with your new environment. Also, I know our people, once they see a single lady from abroad with no man; they tend to take advantage of that person by being disrespectful.
