My oh my, doing it when 6 months pregnant! Congrats on both scores! Since doing the WHW myself in July (solo), I've watched a lot of vids, but yours is top class & so B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L. and your drone footage, set to gorgeous music, is superb. You're people after my own heart with time to stop & observe nature, its flora and fauna; time to chat to others en route; time to really savour the journey, not hell bent on getting there as quickly as possible, as others seem to be. I had a taxi booked for 5.30pm at Rowardennan to take me back to Balmaha, on my Day 2. I didn't get there till 7pm!! I'm excited to carry on with the rest of your videos but it's 00.45 hours!!

The subtle musical transition that begins at 11:14 and then blossoms into "The Bonnie Banks of Lock Lomond" as you arrive on the banks of Lock Lomond at 11:38 with the sound of the waves in the background is a magnificent piece of sound editing and storytelling. Well done.

No other KZbin hiker makes a video as artistic as you do. Between documenting the hike, showing the local flora and close ups of all your “critters” and integrating the gorgeous music you choose, it is an intensely pleasurable experience to watch and listen to your videos.

I had haggis with every breakfast while I was in Edinburgh. LOVED IT! Disappointed not to be able to get the real thing in the US. Hiked up to the summit of King Arthur’s seat every day I was there, because I’m a hiker, 😉 and visited Loch Lomond. I got my drone license before I went to Scotland, and did a legal flight over the water. Awesome experience. Loving your adventures. Thanks!

Retired ER nurse here. I'm glad to see that you and your husband are getting to hike the West Highland Way. We spent some time on the Isle of Skye and Fort William 2 years ago and I was thinking you needed to hike this! We hiked the lower 1/3 of the mountain Ben Nevis in Fort William. Consider riding the Harry Potter (Jacobite train) in Fort William. It's worth the experience! We just got back from hiking in the Lake District in NW England. There are lots of hikes around this area. You might consider this for the future. Beautiful just like Scotland( scenic and lots of flowers). Less sheep though. Have fun. Be safe. Congratulations on the baby and marriage.

Beautiful video. I’m excited about this series. We spent some time in Edinburgh, Scotland, several years ago and loved it. Wonderful people and stunning scenery. I didn’t care for haggis. Even more so once I found out what was in it. I have a slight Nessie obsession, so getting out on a boat on Loch Ness and exploring a castle on its bank was a highlight. (Nessie was shy, so she didn’t make an appearance.) Your video makes me want to return and go hiking. Best wishes for upcoming hikes and your future baby hiker. ❤

Conic Hill used to be a treacherous downhill into Balmaha, manageable but a slippery fest in the wet sliding down or a dusty bowl in the dry so the steps are an improvement. I do prefer the old way as it was quieter but it stop the injuries and call outs on the wee hill

Pretty sure the bird at 4:21 is a Skylark - from the slight raised crest on its head. I remember being in California and the weird feeling where every bird I saw (bar introduced sparrows) was new and had to be looked up. I'm sure you've been warned, but we have ticks in the UK, and they carry Lyme disease (and half a dozen rare ones). Please be wary - especially since you're carrying the next generation of great hikers with you.

All of my father’s great grandparents were born in Scotland so I have strong roots there. I spent a month exploring Scotland on my motorcycle back in 2015 and absolutely loved it. I could’ve stayed forever. The people were incredible, the scenery was spectacular, and the food, contrary to reputation was really quite awesome. I’d loved staying in the inns and pubs. I particularly enjoyed the haggis which to me was very much like a well seasoned turkey stuffing, rather than being based on cornbread or rice like we usually see, it was based on whole oats. And then there was the scotch… I’ll leave it at that. By the way, I’m still waiting to hear the pipes :-). I really envy you.

There are (head) nets from widely available brands like Sea to Summit or Coghlans that can keep even midges/no-see-ums out. But yeah, it requires the versions with finer netting that are usually intended for the tropics, with about 1500-2000 holes per square inch instead of the 300-500 holes for regular mosquito and fly nets. A little reduced visibility and breathability, but better protection. And the one I have is also lighter weight.
