The old Matchbox kit was always the best bet. Easy build, great fit, and ready for you to do some magic with the paint. All this time consuming super detail is great for the purists, but most of us just want something reasonably priced, and decent to look at from the outside in a display case.

Interesting kit, thank you for the insight on the inside details ( pun not intended). I guess I would add them just to get an understanding of the construction of such a plane. I don't build bombers, but this might be the one exception because of the first marking option. It could be interesting to build a "museum grade" plane, not having to bother weathering it.

Looks very, very good indeed.... Like you, ibuilt one in my childhood.... It never got painted though..... And has long gone to the plastic graveyard...

Back in the late '70s and early '80s Airfix provided me with a lot of fun...basic models i could detail up from scratch, just as well as Heller's, Frog's, Revell's and Italeri models did. I must add that sometimes Heller and Italeri kits were quite good for the time. I'm amazed at seeing how much better are today's kits and how competitive Airfix has got on the market. Of course, back then, if you could put your hands on an Hasegawa kit you were a lucky guy, at least here in Italy. But the work required to make those other brands' kits look decent was a challenge i remember with some nostalgia. Long life to Airfix! BTW i subscribed since i'm curious about what you're gonna come out with...i'm sure it'll be gorgeous! 👍🏻

looks like this could be an interesting & useful review, but I stopped it after about 5 minutes - the dreadful, repetitive racket in the background put me off - a real pity.
