John Dixon became one of my favorite characters on this show......he went from bad guy to fairly nice guy (at times) and a hilarious character!

I love Nancy's old-school manner of speaking. "Chree-is, would you like some ca-ake?" Kim was, is, and will always be my idol.

Great scenes. Betsy's brutal honesty with John shocked me, and then Kim not even trying to say Betsy was wrong. This all feel so intense, and on the same level as so many of those "relevant" divorce and mixed marriage dramas that were so popular in the 70s.

Hard to believe this was nearly 42 years ago and Kathryn Hays (Kim) is 88 now and Suzy Davidson is in her late 50s!

Wow, this was such a pleasure to watch. I loved Betsy letting John have it - such a jerk! Kim was one of my favorite characters on the show, always so balanced and patient with everybody even in the most trying of times, and somebody you could talk to about almost anything.

I never could stand that miserable creep. I had forgotten how he and Kim ever got together and had a child together because Kim couldn't stand him either. Someone here in the comments reminded me that Kim got amnesia at one time, and John coerced her. To me he was, and will always be, the most disgusting soap opera character of all time.

John and Kim became close as the years went by. She would call him pal. He would come to her for advise. I don’t think he ever stopped loving her.

The actor cast as Don Hughes really looks as if he could be Don Hastings' (Bob) brother. I'm not very familiar with this time frame of ATWT, but it's awesome to get to see some of my favorite people doing their thing.

It's seems like in the Spring of 1980 when Betsy and Cricket (Lisa Loring) Montgomery vie for the attention of Eric (Peter Reckell) Hollister Betsy is a few years older than in these shows. Then when Lisa Denton replaces Suzanne Davidson a few more years older.

in a few years from this air date, the over the top story lines would take over ATWT...Sadly, the deep conversation scenes would cease to exist.

I grew up in the 80s, so those times are very nostalgic to me. However, the show seems to be much more family based and higher quality during this time. Im fascinated by it and a huge fan of this style of soap oper .

Excellent performances by Kathryn Hays, Larry Bryggman, and Suzanne Davidson. The teen storyline was one of Marland's most realistic at this time. It was realistic for troubled good girl Betsy to give a party without permission.

Cast List "Marland" was writing for Guiding Light in 1979

Misti Doug Marland took over Guiding Light in January 1980. He wrote ATWT for 13 weeks at the end of 1979. P&G wanted to move Bridget and Jerome Dobson from GL to World but had to wait until their contract expired. P&G fired the writers Hunt & Ellis in August after World slipped from #1 to down near #7.
