I get so happy when I see people reacting to McFly!! I’ve been obsessed with them for years!
@stacebrewer2 жыл бұрын
The music industry absolutely has it out for them. They are going full circle at the moment with public perception. People who used to go 'urgh mcfly, just a boyband' are catching them at festivals and now going 'huh they're actually one of the best sounding bands around'

The amount of battle jackets I saw when I saw them in 2021 made me so proud. As a metalhead who’s always loved McFly, I never thought I’d see an Obituary patch at a McFly show

I think North America is really the only place where they didn't make it big, which obviously limits a band's success. I can't explain how much of a household name they are in the UK and a lot of Europe. In the UK, you've got to be living under a rock to not know who they are and even my parents in their 60s know their biggest hits. They had 7 UK No.1s and 19 UK top 10 hits! They're still the youngest band ever to have an album debut at number one-a title taken from the Beatles! All 4 members have taken part in celebrity reality TV competitions before too so they're well-known personalities. They've got a documentary called All About Us which explains their hiatus, how they were formed etc. It's definitely worth watching!

The fact that McFly is a manufactured band that has lasted this long because the members grew close and became best friends is so special.

@@Blackd0nuts Tom was part of Busted for 24hrs, but when they kicked him out the producers asked him to help in the auditions for a boyband (a BSB - S'Sync kind of band) to which Danny went with his guitar (he thought it was for a band). He didn't get it, but Tom liked him, so he convinced the producers to let him work with Danny to write some music, and then they became a band together, and made auditions for drummer and bass, so dougie and harry came along.

Honestly as a Mcfly fan of almost 20 years. In the uk it was like oh teenage girls like them so they much be shit. And that’s always been the thing. But look at the Beatles first fan base… maybe the teenage girls are onto something.

As someone who is now 29, and bought my first mcfly cd single with pocket money from my gran, when i was 11 in 2004.... seen them live 12 times.... I'm incredibly envious of people who are hearing songs from 2006, like star girl and friday night for the first time. I genuinely don't even remember the first time I heard some of their songs. They were huge in the UK from 2004 to around 2009ish at least in terms of mainstream media in the UK. I also personally believe that in that era they weren't represented properly, the press kinda lumped them in with boybands, which just wasn't the case... but it stuck, at least outside of the fans... I know I'm bias but i really do not understand the hate, I'm a guy whos into rock and I always have been, I grew up with my mum playing me the Doors and and The Stones, all my best friends were metal heads and into hard rock, and they ripped me to shreds for seeing mcfly live, but no word of a lie, every single one of those friends changed their minds when I eventually broke them down and made them actually listen. But I'am so happy that they are getting so much recognition at the moment, they really deserve it. Also Tom is my favourite too, learnt guitar because of him

One curious fact about that show is that it was the last out of a big tour in Brazil with 6 concerts in 5 different cities. It's a huge thing that they were still so energetic and excited after all this work.

As an U.S.A. fan of McFly I am so happy yall are finding out about them. I would love it if they did a North American tour...my understanding is while they were here for the movie Just My Luck Simon Cowell wanted to sign then to his record label and they flat out refused him...I may be wrong about the timing, but I know I heard them talking about how they refused Simon and he kind of made it even more difficult for them to make much music here in North America. They are such a wholesome group though and are my fav band so glad I found out about them through the Lindsay lohan movie, just my luck....

Pretty sure Tom has writing credits on No Worries as they wrote a lot of songs with James Bourne from Busted in the early days. I don't think it's a Busted song as such. Also yeah some mcfly fans like busted but a lot also don't (including me) and even though maybe first albums can be comparable i wouldn't go any further in comparing the two bands personally

The problem Mcfly has is that they were really young when they started and were seen as a fake boy band by the UK music press. Dougie was 15 when their Ist single went to no. 1. They also came out at the tail end of the boy band era, Backstreet Boys etc. They were badly marketed and this boy band label stuck. The mystery now is why can’t they get signed to a record label when they sell out tours and stadiums in minutes. The fan base they have is due to their own social media accounts not a PR campaign as most radio stations in the UK still refuse to play their records. The new album reached no 2 in the UK charts with virtually no press publicity.

You seem to think McFly are a rock band. They are everything. They rock and they also do what Harry calls Tom's sweet love music. All About You is by far their biggest hit. Tom wrote it as a Valentine's gift for his future wife. You can tell Tom was sick. His voice doesn't have his usual strength.
