You just do not get this sung perfect by a boy treble too often. There were zero errors made here… thus making this a true masterpiece.

I'm an old man but his brings tears to my eyes every time I listen to it. So pure, so innocent, so perfect. This how an angel would sound if this voice came straight from heaven. It has been many years since I sang in my church boys choir. It seemed so natural for us to do so. We showed up for weekly practice on Wednesday evening then sang on Sunday at mass. We sang Latin masses & to be honest we had no idea what it meant (obviously we knew Kyrie eleison & a few other ones) but my point is this… most boys have the gift to sing as a soprano or even an alto as they age.

Yes. I was a soprano soloist when I was young. Sang on television etc. Then it all came to an abrupt halt when my voice changed. I could never sing after that.

Unfortunately, there are quite a few equally talented treble lads out there who happen to be a bit heavy set and and dumpy. They still sing beautifully and accurately, but they certainly don't get a quarter of a million views on KZbin

@@oddvegan9797 Many of the international female sopranos singing this aria don't have the proper style. They use too many romantic effects: too much vibrato, too many glissandi ( a manner of sliding from a note to the other), operatic pronunciation of the latin... This music is not romantic at all. It needs simplicity, clarity, and at the same time fervor and sincerity. It's a balance very difficult to find. Usually, the treble voice for who Fauré wrote this page are better than adult singers in this piece. A good teacher who knows very well the french sacred repertory can teach it in a good way.

Absolutely one of my favorite pieces. Spectacularly sung. Sadly, here in the United States, the vocal arts are dying in our public schools. Our kids are not being exposed to good literature music like this. Such a marvelous example of discipline and focus. Wonderful execution.
