---- Short History ----
- Iron was first mined here during the Roman times.
- Iron drove the first stage of the industrial revolution in South Wales.
- By 1830, South Wales produced 50% of British iron.
- By 1840, 40,000 people worked in the iron industry.
- But working conditions were appalling and their families lived in poverty. This led to many riots.
- Canals were used to transport the iron from the valleys to the docks.
- South Wales has two types of iron, ironstone nodules and haematite.
- Haematite is found in the Carboniferous limestone, but there’s not enough for the trade in South Wales to be significant.
- Ironstone nodules, however, can be found in considerable quantity.
- Much of the original mining in South Wales was for iron. Coal was a side product and primarily used to power the furnaces. It was only later that iron was imported and coal exported.
- The industries made Wales one of the first industrial countries in the world.
- The population of towns around iron works exploded.
- Built in the late 1800s to mine an iron ore type called haematite.
- This is one of the few shaft type iron mines in south Wales.
- The iron would be sent to the steel works in Port Talbot and Newport.
- The majority of South Wales' iron masters were businessmen from London and Bristol. They shaped modern Wales.
- Thousands of workers came here, but were paid low wages.
- During the mid-1900s, the iron was transported via train.
- It closed in the mid-70s.
- After being mostly demolished, the mine was capped. The yard was also used as tyre storage until a fire burnt it all down.

We never wanted to pollute we never did pollute and we won't pollute. I found out that Government corruption caused by terrorist caused my Scottish clan Wallace to suffer from great depression that we lost land and freedom that we had to start the first industrial revolution in Wales to shelter all homeless of many countries who would share such small amount of fuel of Wales to create nature powered fuel saving machines like water mills that don't pollute.

Old Scottish Braveheart William Wallace cried they may take our land but not our freedom that their own descendants lost land and created homeless shelters for all of their brave allies and they also created freedom with nature powered machines that ended slavery and great depression. Clan Wallace never ruined their own Welsh homeland during the industrial revolution it was ruined by the creation of war factories made by the enemies of clan Wallace that sought to kill the French allies of clan Wallace that helped William Wallace create the Auld alliance.
