Brilliant production, has all the virtuoso qualities expected for a timeless music performance, which I am working on emulating in my live performances

I had this on my Duo Art pianola.By four different pianists, four very large rolls. One was a famous French lady of long ago? All Magnificent. Nita

I have this same roll, but it sounds totally different on my standard player, such a great recording. Who is the pianist?

Josef Lhévinne. The arrangement is by Adolf Schulz-Evler.

If you know the other 2 recordings of this piece by Lhevinne (an Ampico Roll from 1927 which is astonishing, and even better, an absolutely superhuman acoustic recording made for RCA in 1928 which may be the most perfect piece of piano playing ever recorded) this Welte version is a travesty. In fact listening to it again after many years, I suspect it may not be Lhevinne at all. Too many differences in rhythm and gesture - of course it was made years earlier than the others, so that might explain it. Anyway, it's a lousy sounding piano, and it's not working very well since some of the notes in fast passages jam up and don't sound. Not very satisfactory considering the perfection of the other L recordings.
