HENDRYK M. BRODER: Deportation - "The excuse that it is not legally possible is complete nonsense"

On Thursday, the Chancellor made it clear that deportations to Afghanistan should be possible for serious criminals. This raises the question of whether the Greens will agree to this or block it. The Greens argue that Afghanistan is under a terrorist regime, but continue to receive aid payments of 370 million euros from the federal government. This position has been criticized because it ignores reality. Critics also complain that the justice system is overburdened and that offenders are often released early.
Deportations to other Arab countries such as Morocco, Tunisia or Algeria, which are considered moderate regimes, are also blocked. The discussion takes place against the backdrop of the upcoming European elections and state elections in East Germany. Critics accuse the government of believing that it is the state and reacting to criticism as if it were an insult to the state. There are fears that the growing discontent of the population will be reflected in the election results. At the same time, the government has passed new laws such as the Self-Determination Act and the Cannabis Act, which are considered unnecessary, while important issues such as terrorism and migration are neglected. Henryk Broder sharply criticizes this development and emphasizes the need to face the relevant challenges.
