BAD OEYNHAUSEN: Attacked out of nowhere! 20-year-old beaten to death at graduation party in spa park
Three days after a brutal attack in the spa gardens of Bad Oeynhausen, a 20-year-old has succumbed to his serious injuries. The police and public prosecutor announced on Tuesday that the young man was so badly injured in the attack that he suffered irreversible brain dysfunction. An investigation is now underway into manslaughter in conjunction with dangerous bodily harm.
According to earlier reports based on statements from relatives, the victim had already been declared brain dead. The police announced that an autopsy would be performed on the 20-year-old's body soon.
The incident occurred on Sunday night in the spa gardens of Bad Oeynhausen in the Minden-Lübbecke district. According to the public prosecutor's office and the Bielefeld police, the 20-year-old and his 19-year-old companion got into an argument with a group of around ten men. These unknown perpetrators beat and kicked the two young men. The 20-year-old was dragged away by the group and attacked further, suffering multiple head injuries. Witnesses alerted the police, whereupon the attackers fled. The 19-year-old was slightly injured.
The homicide squad is currently evaluating witness statements and is hoping for further information from the public to better reconstruct the course of events. On the night of the attack, a large event took place near the crime scene, which could potentially provide relevant information.
