Emmy Award-winning producer Wendy Riche will sit down with me live in The Locher Room on Friday, January 28th at 3 p.m. EST / 12 p.m. PST to look back at her career producing some of your favorite daytime dramas.
Wendy began her association with ABC Television as a secretary in Children’s Programming. After working as a Coordinator of Late Night Programming, she began her producing career as Associate Producer of the ABC Late Night Series “In Concert”. Wendy became the Executive Producer of ABC’s General Hospital in 1992 where she remained for nine years earning five Daytime Emmys Awards for Outstanding Drama Series. As Executive Producer of General Hospital, she created the GH spin-off, Port Charles in 1997, delivering 1 1/2 hours daily scripted programming to ABC Daytime. Following General Hospital, Wendy was the Executive Producer of the MTV groundbreaking docu(soap)series Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County.
Wendy is the Executive Producer and co-writer of the award-winning The Bay along with Gregori J. Martin and Kristos Andrews. With Gregori, Wendy Exec Produced, Co-created and co-wrote the upcoming spinoff of The Bay titled “yA.”
Wendy is currently in partnership with Riche Productions working with her husband Alan Riche and her son Peter Riche, developing films and television series.
Don’t miss the chance to catch up with this Emmy winner next Friday.

I adore Wendy Riche and it is a genuine crime that she is not a producer within the four remaining daytime soaps, because she could still be doing great work. Would love to see her takeover _The Young and the Restless_ and genuinely revive that soap. She is amazing, and could do some amazing work in daytime. And perhaps could bring Patrick Mulcahey on as head writer with her.

I admire and respect Wendy so much for all her hard work and dedication to make GH and PC so great! The fact that she involved and consulted the actors and others to learn about the characters in depth is amazing and made the difference. I stopped watching starting in 2002 for a few years because it was no longer fun to watch and so many actors I wanted to see left. I started watching again when I heard some of the legacy characters were back and I watched to support them but it’s never been the same. I wish Wendy could come back to clean up the show and make it magic again.

Great Interview. Oh how I miss Wendy Riche, Claire, etc on General Hospital, the writing of the characters is not the same. She is truly is a gem! If GH ends, I would love for her to come back to revive and write the storylines for Sonny and Brenda again( Maurice Bernard and Vanessa Marcil miss you truly). Mrs. Wendy Riche and the writing team were amazing with couples, characters on the Daytime show. You deserve all the flowers and accolades because you have impacted my life with the stories at that time. I was too young, but I binge-watched the fab four Sonny/Brenda/ Stone/Robin storylines while I was sick. Thank you, Mrs. Wendy Riche.

@@d.lhudson3875 Yes it was! But I also refer to what I call the Trifection of Perfection as these three stories were told sequentially and even overlapping. BJ's heart, Monica's cancer, and Stone Robin AIDS story. It put the hospital back in General Hospital. The heart and humanity in the writing and the brilliance in production has been unparalleled in any soap opera before or since.

Alan, a bit late to the comment party here, but I was really looking forward to this interview, and it did not disappoint. Thank you for having my favorite EP of all time on your channel. GH under her tenure was truly "the Mona Lisa of Daytime" as Connie P often pointed out. It was meaningful, significant, emotional, and extremely well-produced and beautifully written. Look at all of the incredible stories that touched so many viewers, and that fans still speak highly of today. Can anyone think of any stories that are even remotely memorable after Wendy left? She is a brilliant, humane producer and woman who made GH unique and special. Thank you again for this interview!

Wendy riche on gh was right in that when she was in charge of gh she msde the main story 60% of the show ...smart....jill phsren phelps on othrer hand made main story 90% of the show...big mistake ...when cruz / eden left ...on santa barbara she had no show....even the b storys were written as an after thougjt.....phelps is good for a show short term to freshen things....riche is your long term boss who knows how to steer and keep the ship going!!!...i always thought this and aftet watching both women interviewed with alan it confirms this....phelps comes in...burns down an iconic set on y&r...makes santa barbara the cruz and eden then the frisco reva hour...kills frankie on another world...kills maureen on guiding light....shes like litening...xciting..shocking..but burns out fast...give me the likes of riche any day!!! .
