Wendy Williams “apologizes” to the Clark Sisters after shading them

Wendy Williams faced some serious backlash from the gospel community after shading the legendary Gospel group The Clark Sisters. Wendy congratulated Snoop Dogg for his #1 gospel record, while dissing the Clark sisters. She said it is time for the Clark Sisters to "step up their game", implying that they have done nothing in their career (The Clark Sisters won Grammys, sold millions of records, and had the number one gospel album multiple times). Kirk Franklin, Tasha Cobbs, and Kierra Sheard spoke out in defense of the beloved group...which forced Wendy Williams to backtrack on her statements. Wendy released a statement on Instagram and invited the group to perform on her show.

They CONSISTENTLY dress in a manner which covers their bodies and I, personally, watched as Ms Karen went on national tv and encouraged woman and young girls to dress right, "buy a pair of spanx", dress tastefully, cover up the cleavage, as she showed where her skirt line started, and encouraged the mothers and older women of the church to teach the younger ladies by word AND example. They have kept that up despite other gospel artists giving in and dressing in some of the most inappropriate outfits possible. You're not going to see The Clark Sisters in see through outfits or skirts SOOOO short that you can see ALL their furniture as they stand on stage before an audience making excuses that, "times are changing". The have lived the motto, "God never changed and neither will we!!!!" I am PROUD to call The Clark Sisters one of my favorite gospel groups (....and I didn't know about them until my late teens as I live in Canada and the only way we could hear or capture American gospel music was to tape it on Sunday mornings from "WBLK Depew Buffalo."....which was the phrase we captured at the begin and/or end of every song🤣😂🤣😂) Wendy Williams needs to give a real apology on her show and not that halfhearted, "some of my best friends are black"(please inserts 'gospel artist' where you please) type ramblings. The "apology" she gave was insincere, disrespectful, dismissive and in no way did it show remorse for what she said. Good topic. Love the Clark Sisters. But one correction. There is no lead in their group. They have made a point to say their mother, and the icon who formed the Clark Sisters, taught them they were equals, and instructed them on how to sing their respective parts so no one person was out of sync. I think that's why they have stayed together so long, not embracing any divides. They all lead songs, they all have made solo albums, they all are great at what they do.

It's awesome that you posted this video to highlight the greatness of The Clark Sisters, but I have one correction to make. Karen Clark, although one of the most impressive talents in the music industry, is not the lead singer of The Clark Sisters. That would be Twinkie Clark. If you do your research on The Clark Sisters you would learn that it was Twinkie who did most of, if not all of the song writing, taught the parts of the songs, and arranged the music. For example, the song "Jesus Is A Love Song", which you highlighted Karen's part of the song, but if anyone go back and listen to the original version, it was Twinkie who out shined them all. Not to mention Twinkie also wrote the song, which is now a classic. But, in usual fashion Twinkie was/is willing to take the backseat and let Karen and her sisters shine. As in the case on this clip. I'm sure that among them, (The Clark Sisters) no one would argue or debate about who's the true leader and inspiration of The Clark Sisters, besides God, no one other than, Elbernita Twinkie Clark. #respecttwinkie.
