The issue is… even if she suffers from some form of dementia. She still understands she’s uncomfortable where she is, and that should matter. Holistic wellness is top priority.

She definitely is coherent enough to express that she’s not happy or comfortable with whomever she’s surrounded by.

It's the same thing they did to Britney Spears when they put her in a conservatorship at 26 claiming she had dementia

People with dementia can seem fine but the more they talk you can tell they aren’t. Wendy has dementia and is not all the way there. I just don’t understand why no one from her family is appointed to help. She can hire a home attendant. This is definitely a business.

How can you definitely state she has dementia without proof?
@Smartkid23872 сағат бұрын
But they described her as completely incapacitated. She didn’t sound incapacitated during that interview.

My grandmother passed last April & you are absolutely correct I was her caregiver & there were times it felt like I was talking to my grandmother but there was times I might go get the mail get something for her out the kitchen only being gone for no more than 5-10min but walk back in her room & my grandmother wasn’t the same person from minutes ago & to someone with dementia they’re not aware that they are going through different mental states

I have an aunt with dementia yeah she has dementia, but she keeps on repeating words and she gets lost in the conversation. It could be worse some days. It could be good some days.

same with my grandparents. somedays it would seem like they were perfectly "normal" and the other days the complete opposite.

America is a wild place....over here in Nigeria you have to get to hobo status or extremely dangerous and violent before you are tied down and put in a mental facility...if its just you forgetting stuff and simple mistaking persons for another which old people do. We just keep you at home with an assistance to help out. There is nothing like a facility for someone like Wendy from the interview i watched..

Alcohol use by itself impacts the brain negatively and over time results in dementia syndrome (look up Korsakoff's syndrome). Thyroid disorders, which she's had for years, also can lead to brain based mental illness and dementia. Incapacitated is a legal term, but what yall are thinking. It's not that she's knocked out and can't communicate. Capacity is based on a person's ability to comprehend the situation(s), understand their many options, dispatch the ability to reason through different behaviors, and consistently express their logic. In the documentary, she was clearly unwell. She's been stabilized in part because she doesn't have access to alcohol, which she refused to acknowledge as a fundamental part of her health issues. Often people with Korsakoff's do not have insight about their condition and it is quite tragic. She may only have access to a limited about of money because she would use it to get things that bring her harm. The brain can only take so much alcohol. It's a neurotoxin. Once you reach a certain point, you can be stabilizer but the neurons will not grow back. Praying for Wendy and her family and caregivers as they navigate this difficult time.
