What gets me about Heavenly is that she's quick to share things that aren't hers to share, and some of the ladies let her get away with it; no consequences. And whether Phaedra delivered or not, Dr. Jackie should be responsible for making up the difference. It was her event. I didn't like the way she tried to play Phaedra, then allowed Heavenly to be her mouth piece. Plus, this event was another way to do damage control for her previous statement about black women and pregnancies.

I understand her words were offensive ... BUT the context was important and real. She said BW aren't taken seriously when it comes to medical care as our complaints are often ignored. She also said that her colleagues (INCLUDING "OTHER" PEOPLE) view BW as overdramatic and sometimes deceptive. As an example, she said that BW would over exaggerate pregnancy symptoms to get an excuse note from work. Yes, this is an offensive thing to say because women of ALL backgrounds can and they do. However, the bigger conversation is about how BW show up in the medical industry and I think we should focus on that instead of offensive wording.

Wendy clearly has some form of alcohol induced Dementia , possibly Wernicke Korsakoff Syndrome, which is sometimes referred to as a "wet brain." So, when alcohol abuse is stopped, the patient will "dry out" and become more lucid. In some cases of this, a person can recover or greatly improve. If a Brief Interview for Mental Status (BIMS) was done, in my opinion, Wendy would likely score between 12 and 13 out of 15. That would make her mildly impaired, still capable of making decisions for herself, but likely needing some support. She doesn't need to live on a locked Dementia unit.
