I use mini workouts for posture and training those neglected areas. Upper backs, abs, hams, adductors, calves etc. I do them fast, reasonably hard and at home. This is huge. The key to mini workouts is finding a way to do them at home. I've got adjustable dbs, bands, 45 degree hyper, ghr, chin up bar and trx in a spare room. These work amazingly well for me.

A video on how trustable modern western studies are would be awesome. I feel like its always just 10-20 people who are just regular joes, wirh no outside control. One guy may have been partying the day before or the other guy go through a divorce. I feel like studies they did in the soviet union are still the most valuable thing we have.

I've been using this concept as a means to jump start my fitness. I use the term 'exercise snack' though to jedi mind trick myself into restoring a regular fitness routine. I heard Tim from original strength use the term and liked the concept. It's harder to put off a snack than a full workout when work stress consumes your focus.

This is great info, that I have never understood very well. Thanks for laying it out in your video. I definitely need to buy that manual. I have used a different approach where when I finish a 12 week training program, I take 2 weeks where I do simple 45 min workouts doing much lower volume and intensity, and don’t chase increased weight or reps. I keep the training basic and boring with the intent of just stimulating rather than what I call training. I really like the idea of improving weaknesses and I really want to learn more about this, 1) to improve mileage and 2) because I still want to continue improving into my 50s. Thanks Matt.

Nice content! I'm going to start incorporating one mini workout per week (on Saturday so it does not interfere with my 4 day upper/lower) to help speed up progress. I plan on hitting triceps extensions, hamstring curls and chest flies in a wenning warmup fashion so it also boosts my work capacity.

Did the Soviets that a lot of these studies were done on like the Dynamo club have full time jobs, or was training their only time commitment? I read "Chinese Weightlifting: Technical Mastery and Training", where they outline some Chinese training schedules (they are HUGE on GPP), but these feeder workout schedules they do wouldn't be feasible if they had jobs.
@WenningStrength3 жыл бұрын
Yup it’s the only way to get real research - but takes high skill to adapt these to normal life schedules. That’s why we do online coaching etc

As the say ‘what’s old is new’. Or Matt’s version ‘A lot of new studies are just recycled soviet content’
@WenningStrength3 жыл бұрын
Kind of. No new studies researched as long or controlled variables as well
