I have a breville espresso machine as well, and have worked as a barista for 5 years, and I wanted to say great job with the coffee! It is a lot more work, but I always think it tastes so much better! Also, you're right about the shot being small, it is way less than what a single shot would be at a coffee shop. I always just put it on the double, and put two of those if I want an actual double shot. And always add something else to the cup before you put the espresso in it to save it form tasting bitter. The longer it sits on its own, the more bitter and "burnt" it will taste! Enjoy your new toy!

A lil ex starbucks barista tip: if you want to froth your milk so it has foam.. you hold the frother tip closer to the top of the milk and more at the bottom to warm the milk. As far as the espresso.. make sure it doesnt sit for too long after its been "pulled" meaning once it finishes brewing, immediately pour the milk in or else it will have a more burnt bitter taste to it. If adding sweetener add it in the cup before the milk, espresso etc ♡

Kian I am a huge fan and this comes from a place of love - double check if you’re using espresso beans vs coffee beans in the espresso machine. it’ll give you a flavorful, more concentrated pull. there are some great youtube videos that can give you tips on steaming and brewing too! I’ve worked as a barista for yearssss and even though it’s a little more work a good latte or espresso shot takes the cake over coffee for me any day. I’d be interested to see what you think of the machine with some different beans. Loving these vlogs keep it up.

Hey Kian I don’t know if you’ll see this but if you want to heat up your milk there is a steamer attached to the machine. Note only do it for the milk so not mixed with coffee but when you do it have the cup on an angle and put it on steam and there you go you’ll have hot milk. Ps it heats up pretty quickly

i’ve been a barista for over 2 years now and it does seem like it’ll blow up LMAO but as long as the wand is fully submerged in the milk you should be fine (would also recommend using a thermometer and i like mine around 150 degrees) also the shot should be mixed with something within about 30 seconds or else the shot will “die” and taste bitter
