The sock/filter on the fuel pump inside the tank was the issue on mine, but I just replaced the whole sending unit, by going in through the back seat area, had to make a service port/opening, but worked out well.

I watch a lot of your videos, sometimes you show going back to the customer and fixing them up. I know your diagnosis is mostly right on, but I would like to see the second visit, when the parts are in and you go back and fix it. How do we know on this one the fuel filter was the problem? I seriously don't that.....I put a starter and battery in my ex wife's 2013 escape SEL, the battery is hidden under the wiper cowl...but it's there...same thing with the focus air filter....I'm sure it has a replacable air filter...

Checking the fuel rail is always a guaranteed method to check. Not running because of a clogged filter sounds more like a myth

I was worried that my 2002 Holden VY SS Commodore wouldn't start on the morning of December 20 when it was due for a registration inspection but it started after a few goes & I drove it to my local tyre shop who can also do pink slip registration inspections, they passed it although they needed to do a headlight restoration so that it would pass. It was just about due for its 40,000 kilometre or 24,000 mile fuel filter change & when I did that all of this dirt came out of the old filter when I blew the contents of the filter into a bucket, what was worrying me is that dirt was also on the outlet side of the fuel filter. It was the first time my car did that to me l,I have replaced the fuel sender unit a few times due to a non working fuel gauge or the PCM was storing a P0171 or a P0174 lean code due to low fuel pressure which was caused by a faulty in tank fuel pressure regulator. They seemed to be all those Chinese aftermarket fuel pump & sending units every time a fuel pressure regulator failed so I ordered an adjustable PR217 type of fuel pressure regulator from China which fitted & I haven't had any problems since I fitted it years ago. In 2023 I had an issue once however where a check engine symbol & appeared a lean fault code was stored in the PCM but I think some sediment must've got stirred up when I filled up the tank with fuel because I checked the fuel pressure which was at 51 PSI (too low) so I ordered another fuel pressure regulator. My point is that I didn't fit it last year because I cleared the codes & the fuel trims went back to normal so I opted for the "if it ain't broken don't fix it" approach !
