@@criceditspro6831 In automatic vehicles the gears will change based upon the speed and you won't have any control over it unless you have paddle shifters. In manual you can just put it in 1st gear and rev it on the slope. @@sunilreddy5571 - The point you are making is not correct. Automatic cars if have hill hold will automatically hold the car even if you pull your both legs up on a steep hill. It has nothing to do having paddle shifters, or the speed or the RPMs. Its an extra feature which every automatic should have else it will go back if we don't have that. In manual cars, the mechanism is already difficult and a person knows how to handle a car when on steep instead of people who drive automatics don't think much of the mechanisms because its way too easy compared to manual. Thats what Ranjit also mentioned. It has nothing to do with automatics that when revved hard it cannot hold and all. And yes, hill hold actually increases rpm to an extent that it makes a car stationary.

I am not hating on Maruti Suzuki I love their engines in fact there engines are one of the best right up there with the most awarded VW 1L TSI, I feel they should bring the Japanese production standards in India and provide the same level of quality that they provide in Japan yes I am a JDM lover🤪 As I have heard they are going to do so with the new the new Swift and rightly it will be priced at about 13L and above which is absolutely not a problem.

But I would also like to point out that Tata is trying to chase Volkswagen and not other manufacturers because they (vw) have set the standards of being the best in the industry, We all believe that and know that even if we don't want to admit it. On top of it Tata's service is shit, and the engines and not even close to Suzuki or Volkswagen on Hyundai, But the thing is today everybody is concerned about safety as we all know our Indian roads are full of idiots and that's how Tata has made their mark. Tata is actually improving , Just compare Indica Vista Era and now but the problem is Maruti Suzuki doesn't want to a wall they are still harping that their car meets Indian crash standards when we all know Indian crash standards is just a bare minimum requirement and in a country like India bare minimum is not enough. Hyundai has done a fantastic job as all of the cars or at least three star rated plus they have incredible interiors and the engines are just one step below Suzuki and Volkswagen

What's the problem with the sales guys working in Tata showrooms is a matter of concern. Either Tata is not giving proper training to its sales force or the Franchisee is not having experience in doing business. A lot of people have loads of money to invest, but nothing inside their heads. Tata should look for experienced people, while entrusting showrooms in future, otherwise safety badge alone will not do them good sales.

@@lesliej3763 I feel it's a deeper routed problem which some auto manufacturers have solved and some have not been able to and that is - relationship management between the manufacturer and dealer principal / owner. This relationship defined the customer experience. The manufacturer can set guidelines however the dealer owner / principal needs to have them applied. Overall a car buying has a pull marketing applied that push marketing. Customers always walk into a showroom to buy the car, so the dealer principal should be help accountable for this and should also have benefits / reprimands linked to it.

Same thing happened a few weeks back. I went with my friend who wanted to buy the punch or the nexon but the sales people were not interested. When we called a sales person, he came to us without any excitement in his eyes and just a few minutes into showing the car, the sales guy adruptly stopped and went away to meet a friend who just came into the showroom. My friend got extremely angry, closed the door of the nexon with a loud thud and stormed off the showroom. Now he owns a Sonet Turbo DCT :P

I have a tata tigor car myself, purchased, just a few months ago, purchased from Banjara Hills. Yes, service in the showroom is horrible. "I feel the main reason for this is lack of good pay and commission. If you don't already know, tata cars are built with solid steel instead of tin alloys of Maruti so the margins are too low." (There are the words of one of the sales person himself) Hill assist is definitely a good feature to have but this problem is there even in my Maruti Swift car (manual) not just tata. Btw, Nexon has hill assist in one of the variants but it probably doesn't fit your budget. The cars are actually really good value for money especially in terms of safety ratings and features. You already have used one, you must be knowing, the cars are really well built. Tata cars are mostly non-noob friendly and are more suitable for little advanced drivers, while, Maruti definitely makes their car noob friendly. No offense guys. I have driven both Swift and Tigor.

Ranjit sir one of the main reason behind lack-luster attitude of Sales person in Tata showroom is due to the fact that they don't get good compensation or incentives for every car they sell.. I'm not saying this is the only reason but when i went to book a nexon for my friend this is the clear reason stated by that salesman. He feel bit under-motivated to have s smiling face all around.. Secondly YES tata do neglect the behaviour of their sales team a lot. If anyone had issue they just redirect the issue to that dealer only.. Coming to your point of having a Hill-hold control, TATA should have provided this. This new TATA ERA is soley based on SAFETY STANDARDS that they provide. And if they miss out this simple things it's really a neglected thing

Unfortunately, TATA offers hill descent and hill hold control only in the 17-18 lakh+ cars for now. I own a Nexon AMT Petrol (Top variant) and even that doesn't have hill descent/hill hold. Nexon EV Max and maybe Harrier/Safari get those. So yeah, that's a problem. I've gotten used to the driving style suited for this AMT gearbox and the car is absolute fun to drive (not the enthusiast type drive though) As for sales rep and dealers, there is definitely a massive inconsistency in the services offered across India. You are very correct and have opened a very important issue. Hill hold assist, traction control and 4 wheel drive in automatic cars are all very important features that are neglected in most Indian hatchbacks and sedans. They need to be given utmost importance because an Indian family may buy a car and maintain it for the next 10-15 years or so and they will drive their vehicles in all kinds of terrains - hills, slippery-muddy roads. Also rear wheel drive is preferred over front wheel drive especially for automatics. What I mean is the engine must be connected to rear wheels and not the front wheels. This is especially helpful in slippery terrains.

Tata showroom guys are same everywhere. One of friend went to test drive the Tata Tiago AMT, the sales person did not hear properly and was explaining the pricing details which was of Tigor. Basically he did not hear properly and explained the pricing details of a different car. When my friend realised and asked, the sales guy was more keen on booking the car even before giving it for Test drive. He booked a Swift ZXi AMT instead :) This happened in Bangalore.

The smoothness also comes from the 4 cylinder superb reliable engine! The three cylinder in tata cars is strictly ok ! And a car engine should be on top of the priority list when you buy a car followed by the gear box! Many a People nowadays buy cars on the basis of youtuber opinions and hype!

With Maruti, you’ll now also enjoy affordable spare parts and low service costs. You might not care about the affordable but it’s a good thing to have.

I can totally relate to your inconvenience. I had booked Tata Tiago top variant frm bnjra hills. It took me 7 months for the car and still it was not ready as per officials. Finally we made cancellation and went for Nissan magnite. Trust me we got ur car with in 3 days. The experience was really good. I think hill descent is a necessary feature which needs to be included. Have u checked with Tata nexon? Even the i20 has the hill assist.

would you recommend electric vehicles for senior citizens?

Electric cars simply does not make sense if you don't do drive about 30-40 Kms everyday. Also make sure you parking has charging facilities. My fathers run is just about 250-350 Kms in a month so a electric car just didn't make any sense.

Every indian likes to support indian companies. Indian companies would have been on top, if they had 'Quality' & 'Real pricing'.

In Bangalore I visited tata show room, was looking for Altroz car and tata sales people were least bothered. Sales team had no proper details abt the features of the car. I asked for test drive waited for a week and they did not arrange. I bought maruti vehicle instead. Tata didn't even call me once for following up. I got calls from hyundai and mahindra.
