Wera 950 9 Hex Plus review Holding function L key set, metric, BlackLaser

Typical nice tool from Wera but that holder flip is too weak and the l-keys are a bit of a pain to take out at times. For me its a 7 out of 10 despite the Hex-Plus profile, color handles, holding function and black coating. So close but no cigar this time.

Agree. Used them Friday and then today at work and they never miss a beat. I was working with a few larger sized hex screws and the holding function is a genuine time saver for me. I was after some PB swiss ones at one point but I don't think I need to as these are really nice for me.

One of the first Wera tools I bought then the torx HF. There after I bought everything from this brand except the 3/8 sets (that will be my next buy).

I love their stuff. i have used the hex set a lot recently and there is no wear marking and they still work brilliant. also i found another thing i never even thought of in the review. I was using a hex for placing equipment in a certain position and i needed both hands. One hand to hold on and the other to fiddle with the mount. Because of this I had to keep putting the hex key in my mouth and the plastic wrap stopped it annoying my teeth. I never even thought of that but its another good thing about this set.

I like it's hard to get out, means after more use will probably be just right, rather than being right out of the box and ends up being to loose after time. The ones I have have the hex the whole way alone, which I like, when using the ball end gives you a decent amount of grip which is good. These ones are round I imagine could be hard to get grip, so often you have to use the ball head because not enough room for using the other end. They do look very good, will probably have to grab them when my current sets wear out. Would be interesting to see a quick video about that bolt on the tripod on discord, has to be some reason it's coming loose, especially with Loctite on it. Must be on some kind of pivot point or something that's wiggling it loose

It's been a right pain I have used loctite thread locker blue twice and each time it eventually comes loose.

Have you tried Loctite 243 or 222 ? Are both surfaces metal. I would recommend 243 for larger fasteners and 222 for small fasteners.

I've been using the blue 2400 loctite threadlocker. Both surfaces are metal yes so its a bit annoying. I think the issue is that the thread is at a pivot point at the top of a leg so when the leg is fully extended the level effect must be strong enough to break the lock. Do you have any links for the better threadlockers? I don't want to go the red route yet.

​@@TrailTrek Any luck with that a year later? Have you tried flushing the hole and screw with alcohol or similar to make sure any corrosion resistant oils were removed?

Hi this is a complex issue. Do you mean why are different manufacturers different prices when they are all doing the same thing? Or do you ask why there are so many versions in the Wera hex key line?
